I enrolled on the Access to HE Diploma in January 2015 to start the process of gaining a new career in Physiotherapy. Having left college early to start work I never gained the UCAS credits required to go to university. Now 15 years later, going back to education was a daunting prospect.

I have had a manual job for the last 6 years and felt that my academic abilities had diminished during this time. However, I exceeded all of my expectations. The course was hard and challenging at times, requiring motivation and commitment. I found though, that the satisfaction of being awarded a distinction for an assignment and being one step closer to a new career was all I needed to continue.

The flexibility of being able to put the course on hold halfway through allowed me to take much needed time out to organise my wedding.

Having now completed the course I feel much more confident with my writing, researching and referencing abilities. I've learnt new skills and techniques which will be invaluable for higher education. My application to university is on hold now while I welcome the arrival of our first baby. However, I look forward to continuing with my studies in the near future following the grounding that DistanceLearningCentre.com has given me. (Jun 16)

Having worked in the IT industry for several years and wanting a change of career, I decided in August 2014 to do the Access Course as a first step for getting back into the university since the last education I had had was 14 years back. I stumbled on the DistanceLearningCentre.com and their excellent range of courses while browsing for courses. I had to keep my full time job. I chose to do Access to Health as completing it would give me sufficient qualifications to apply for the Operating Department Practice I wanted to do.

I was fully aware of the hurdles that lay ahead of me in completing the course within the limited time I had, and also keeping up with the full time job and looking after two small children. I had to be self-motivated and disciplined. I was able to build up a routine of waking up very early as 2 in the morning to study before going to work often on long hour shifts. There were many times when I thought I was hitting a brick wall and even thought about giving up due to the pressure. But the amazing tutors I had were there on time to talk me through anything and gave me enough and more support for me to continue. I just can't thank them enough. I managed to get the required credits in time to start University in September 2015.

I would not hesitate and still recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone planning to do an Access Course. Completing the course on time was a massive achievement and has boosted my confidence so much. I was worried I was too old to learn new things when I first started the course but all that changed when I was able to complete the course with much higher grades than I ever expected.

I have worked in Health and Social care for eight years and have often though about going to University and studying Nursing. Holding me back was the lack of confidence that I had in my academic potential.

Completing my Access to Nursing has given me so much confidence and the qualifications that I need to get into university. I am currently applying for a place in September and it is very exciting!

I found the course fantastic and the tutors are so supportive and helpful. It does take a lot of hard work and dedication to complete your work but once you put the time and effort in it really is worth it. English is not my first language - Kinga Czekaj

Having lived a few years in the UK, I decided to go back to studying. Unfortunately my overseas qualifications were not enough to apply to University; hence I needed to find a different solution. When I found DistanceLearningCentre.com, it appealed to me straight away. Studying in my own time meant that I could keep my job, and spend more time reading when needed, as English is not my first language.

The learning materials were also well organised, and book recommendations were made for further studying. After every assignment thorough and useful feedback was given. I always felt motivated by my tutors, and when I needed extra help support they were there to help - Thank you!

In addition, the course is affordable, and can be paid in instalments, which makes it even easier. I would honestly recommend it to anyone who wants to aim for higher education.
