I began my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) in summer 2020 with the ambition to study Dietetics at University, something I have always been interested in, but since leaving Sixth Form college, I had landed into other fields of work. I hadn't got the grades needed to study this course, so my research began into ways to be able to work towards what I needed, yet continue to my current work and lifestyle.

I loved (and still do!) the work I had taken up previously, but felt the urge to work towards something new, to create new goals, and a potential career change. I have always dreamed of Studying Nursing at University, however, struggled to fit a full-time level 3 college course around my full-time job and life style.

Before beginning my course at DistanceLearningCentre.com I worked in Radiology as an assistant. I decided to further my career and aim to graduate from university with a degree in Diagnostic Radiography so I began searching for a route into the field as I did not hold any A-levels. I discovered that they offered an access course (Access to Higher Education Diploma - Radiography) which is aimed specifically towards this specialty and decided to join whilst still working full time. I wanted to achieve 45 graded credits at merit or higher within a year to gain a place at university for 2021 and that is exactly what I have managed to achieve.

I did not know what to expect whilst trying to fit this course around working, but thankfully DistanceLearningCentre.com is designed specifically to accommodate this. The course is split into assessments and is very well laid out, offering a broad range of information to help you understand the subjects with a clear time frame and log to manage your workload. Do not underestimate how important the tutors are if you feel as though you are struggling on a subject. They are very kind and informative whilst helping you understand what you need to achieve your goals. I can now start University in September 2021 with the ability to research topics, perform academic writing, and with a foundation of knowledge on the degree subject that I will be undertaking. I wasn't really doing much with my life prior to starting my course with DistanceLearningCentre.com. I left school halfway through my A levels due to my mental health; it was devastating not to be able to complete them. That's what inspired me to finish my studies and gain an Access to HE Diploma. I studied Nursing and Midwifery, and upon completion, I have now secured a place at university this September to study Children's Nursing!
