Working as an EMT/Paramedic with the ambulance service has always been a long-standing goal of mine. Although I decided to pursue this career later in life, I was determined to make the transition and give myself the best possible chance of success. Enrolling in the DistanceLearningCentre.com Diploma in Paramedic Science played a key role in achieving that goal. The course not only strengthened my knowledge and skills, but it also helped me secure a position as a Trainee Emergency Medical Technician with the Welsh Ambulance Service. Since then, I’ve continued my training and now proudly serve on the front line as part of an emergency ambulance crew.

When I left school, I struggled to find my path in life. I became a Mother at a young age, and although it was not the journey I had originally imagined for myself, it was the most important and beautiful one, and I couldn't bear to spend a day away from him. My three children are the light of my life, and I devoted myself completely to raising them. For years, I kept beating myself up about the fact I hadn't found my 'Forever Job' yet, and I knew whatever that was, it would be surrounding helping people. I didn't realise exactly what I wanted until one day I realised, I had watched 24 Hours in A&E every single night for about 4 years (I didn't like change), so then it clicked, I wanted to be a Paramedic! But how do I do it now, now that I'm 27…I'm too old, I would tell myself, but then I came across DistanceLearningCentre.com, where I can study around my commitments. It has taken me 2 Years, whereas it might take some people less than a year, just because of my commitments, but the main point is that I have completed it and gained grades I never would have had otherwise. I recently completed the Access to Higher Education Diploma in Law remotely over the past year, and I am so pleased with the experience I’ve had. I had been out of education for around nine years and wasn’t sure if it would be possible to return to studying while working full time; however, this course provided the opportunity to do so!
