DistanceLearningCentre.com has opened so many opportunities for me and has positively shaped my future - Katie Bradley
I would firstly like to say that I have thoroughly enjoyed my diploma with DistanceLearningCentre.com. This course is my first online course, and my expectations were highly exceeded by my tutor's incredible academic delivery and stance throughout my learning.
Before I started my course, I was working full time as a nursing assistant in hopes to pursuing my future career in healthcare. I decided to go part time to complete the rest of my diploma in Nursing and Midwifery. Although I have had many setbacks in my life I am so proud of how far I’ve come in completing my course while still pursuing a career in what I love.
My experience has been outstanding, and I truly believe that with the guidance and support of my tutor, she has helped me reach my potential and believed in my ability to shine, even when I doubted myself. Furthermore, DistanceLearningCentre.com has opened so many opportunities for me and has positively shaped my future.
I still remember the excitement of enrolling on my Access course. One step closer to my midwifery dream! - Agnieszka Grudziecka
I still remember the excitement of enrolling on my Access course. One step closer to my midwifery dream! I had done my research. I knew that distance learning could sometimes feel isolating, but I was ready to trade it for the flexibility that meant I could fit my learning around my family and work commitments. I also knew I had to give it my all. English is my second language, and I expected that this would take a lot of time, hard work, and perseverance, and it did.
I am not going to say it was easy. To be honest, there were probably more times than not when I thought I wouldn’t make it: when you are in the thick of it, it is easy to lose sight of why you wanted it so much in the first place.
Several months into the course I got diagnosed with PCOS and was struggling with fatigue, to the point of having no energy to complete simple everyday tasks. I had a bereavement in the family not long after that and a knee operation to recover from. It all took a toll on my mental health, and I had to dig deep for motivation, as I was not even sure whether I would be able to complete the course before the moderation deadline. At that point, I was holding an offer from my chosen university, subject to completing the course with a certain number of distinctions in science subjects, so there was a lot of pressure. I remember emailing my tutor once and letting it all out. Looking back, I am not sure I knew what to expect, after all, it felt like she had been on the other side of the email for queries about the course materials, assessments, etc only. But her response was great -she calmed me down and helped me gain some perspective on things, offering encouragement to keep going; she was kind but had this no-nonsense approach that I could lean on to get me through. Both of my tutors were amazing, although I feel they supported and encouraged me differently- I am super grateful for both of them.
Throughout the course, I discovered things I didn’t know about myself: the kind of perseverance to keep your head down and work hard when all you want to do is give up: I had it in me. I wanted to show my children that hard work pays off and that you can become whatever you set your heart on and put your mind to, regardless of age or background.
I am now looking back on my journey as a first-year student midwife, and I couldn’t be prouder of it, with all its ups and downs. Thank you for being such an important part of it. To everyone currently studying and giving it your best shot- keep going, it will be so worth it. If I could do it, so can you!
