Before I started with DistanceLearningCentre.com, I had just had a baby, and was on maternity leave.
After talking to my husband, I realised I wanted to pursue my childhood dream of becoming a midwife. My new born baby became my motivation and he gave me the confidence to take a chance and just try to achieve a dream I have had since I was 15 years old.
After signing up, within 6 months I completed the nursing and midwifery course and got accepted into all the universities I applied for. I have now made a firm choice at a university after achieving my grades and will be starting university in January studying midwifery.

Before I started my diploma with DistanceLearningCentre.com I was working as a Senior Nurse Associate supporting Registered Nurses. For over ten years. I had always dreamed of someday doing my own degree and becoming registered with the NMC. However, it all seemed so far away and like it would never happen, until I registered with DistanceLearningCentre.com to do an Access to HE diploma.
I studied an Allied Health Professions course with the DistanceLearningCentre.com and my life has changed for the better. I have secured a place at the University of the West of England and will be doing a Bachelor of Science degree in Adult Nursing this September to become a Registered Nurse. I really can't believe that twelve months later I would be on my way to university! My dream really has now come true and I could not be happier. Before starting my access course, I had finished my GCSEs with no idea of the direction I wanted to go in. I started working at Birmingham Children's Hospital and after working with and speaking with nurses in different specialties, I decided this was the route I wanted to take in my future. I then heard from a work colleague about DistanceLearningCentre.com and began researching and looking into the different course opportunities.
Since then, I have worked at the hospital alongside completing my nursing diploma with DistanceLearningCentre.com, which I could not have achieved without the continuous support from my 2 tutors. My first tutor supported me with my psychology studies and was always a call away if I needed help with a topic. They answered the million questions that I had at the beginning of the course and was always willing to listen and give me advice on the units as well as my career path. My first tutor spent lots of time with me and helped massively with my UCAS application.
After finishing the psychology units, I moved on to biology. I knew this was going to be a subject I struggled with however with the help of my second tutor, I managed to complete all the units on time and with all merits. They had a quick response time and were always willing to help with any questions I had (which was many!). My tutor would send me extra resources and links to websites which helped massively in my assessments. I have achieved everything I wanted to achieve by completing this course. I now have a place at Birmingham City University to study an Integrated Masters of Mental Health and Child Nursing. (June 2022)

I dropped out of sixth form at seventeen as I needed to enter full time work in order to support my family. Despite becoming a restaurant supervisor, and after working in hospitality for 3 years, I knew it wasn’t something I wanted to do forever.
I originally planned to attend university after sixth form, but I had no idea how to achieve this with no A-level qualifications. I looked to studying at traditional colleges, but I couldn’t find a way to fit my studies around my job. My extensive search led me to discover DistanceLearningCentre.com, and I’m so glad it did!

“Studying is not for me” - at least that was what I told myself when I left secondary school with a very mediocre set of GCSE results and leapt into an airline apprenticeship. Fast forward thirty something years - the airline industry was on it’s knees as a result of the Covid pandemic and opting for voluntary redundancy seemed the wisest option. I already had a part time role working as a Healthcare Assistant so it seemed sensible to take on a permanent role there. Working with amazing nurses inspired me to progress and I quickly found myself researching how to become a nurse myself. I dusted off my GCSE certificate only to discover the results really were as bad as I recalled and decided to embark on Functional Skills in Maths and English with DistanceLearningCentre.com. Both were rapidly completed and I discovered (much to my disbelief) that I had actually enjoyed the study and so immediately signed up for an Access to HE in Nursing and Midwifery.
The Access to HE course was exceptionally well put together and ideal for students of all ages. I learnt foundation skills in academic writing which was a steep but necessary learning curve and quickly found myself savouring the content and relevance of each chapter of the course. The learning materials are well written and easy to follow, whilst at the same time encouraging you to embark on further individual research to consolidate your learning and obtain the highest grades. The tutors were exceptional - despite this being a remote learning environment, they are always just an email or phone call away to explain, reword or simply give a little technical advice. My confidence grew as I began to receive positive affirmation from the tutors and I found I was relishing each task with passion as a result of the encouragement I received.
I recently completed the Access course and am proud to be attending university this Autumn to study a degree in Adult Nursing, something I truly never believed to be possible. DistanceLearningCentre.com helped me to grow and realise my true potential and for that I will be eternally grateful.
