I am forever grateful to the entire DistanceLearningCentre.com staff, the easy-to-follow materials provided on the website, and the support I was fully given by my tutors during the most difficult times of my life either through emails, phone calls, and even texts.
Earlier this year I lost my dear mom while expecting and going through the toughest pregnancy ever. Not allowed to travel, I had a child during Covid and invited my mom to visit, but her visa was denied, then she fell ill at the end of 2021 and died earlier this year while I was expecting.
It felt like my entire world was crashing, I lost concentration when I tried to study, nothing sunk in at all. I was on the verge of giving up on my DistanceLearningCentre.com course but the amazing support I got was beyond my expectations. Tutors were always prompt to reply and helped me emotionally but most of all they never gave up on helping me understand what the modules required of me. I was then bed bound and not even allowed to work or even drive due to the risks of the pregnancy.
I finished my modules and submitted them the night before my baby was born. I sat there until 4 in the morning. After, my little one was born via active c-section. As a mature student who has many commitments outside of education. Embarking upon a new challenge like a diploma for an access to physiotherapy can be a huge step, and not a decision I took lightly.
Studying here gave me the tools and support I needed to not only relearn some of the basics within education I have not used in years. But also, to develop certain areas of academic education further which will help me progress in my further education.
During the course, I found balancing my time between work and life commitments very challenging. Some of DistanceLearningCentre.com tutors were able to guide me though this and get me over the line to complete the course which at some points I did not think would be possible.

For many years, I have suffered with relatively severe mental health struggles, which have affected most aspects of my life. These first started when I was 15 years old and had a detrimental effect on both my GCSE’s and A Levels, as well as my more recent ability to engage with formal education. Due to this, my self-confidence and belief that I would ever be able to pursue my dream of becoming a paramedic diminished significantly. However, Covid enabled me to take a step back and consider how I could, in theory, re-ignite that spark and motivation.
After contacting St John’s Ambulance, I was directed to DistanceLearningCentre.com and swiftly completed my application without second thought! Up until this point, I had assumed that I would have to undertake either a foundation course at university – which are no longer available for paramedic science – or enrol in an in-person course at college. Both filled me with immense dread and anxiety, triggering my past feelings associated with education. The testimonies from previous DistanceLearningCentre.com students, however, calmed my nerves as I discovered that others had been through similar experiences to me and been given the necessary support and encouragement to successfully complete their courses and pursue their chosen career paths.
My experience, unsurprisingly, was very similar. There were extreme highs but also extreme lows. Nonetheless, my tutors were unbelievably supportive throughout everything, which I am immensely grateful for. Without them, my intrusive thoughts would have been too great to overcome and I would have most likely dropped out. So, thank you so much for always believing in me, even when I did not!
Along with their enthusiasm, my tutors also motivated me to broaden my knowledge in certain areas of particular interest. They gave me some phenomenal books recommendations and really went above and beyond; sharing more knowledge with me than just information for the course topics.
I am still yet to apply to university but am hopeful for the future since DistanceLearningCentre.com has proven that education does not have to be a traumatic experience. I was so nervous about studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com and was completely out of my comfort zone. Never actually thought I would be able to achieve my diploma in nursing and midwifery. Then covid struck and made studying very difficult with having children at home all day. With an ambition to study Adult Nursing following 22 years’ service in the RAF working within Logistics, I wasn’t surprised to find that a BTEC ND in IT Applications from 1993 wasn’t going to get me entry to university. Following recommendations from friends who had also pursued other careers on leaving the RAF, I chose to undertake the Access to HE Allied Health Professions diploma with DistanceLearningCentre.com and I could not have been happier!
