The support I received from tutors and also the DistanceLearningCentre.com Facebook group was incredible and I never felt alone. - Karen Tegg
I began my access to higher education diploma in August 2021 with the hopes of studying Paramedic Science at university. I have been out of education for 5 years after previously studying health care and child nursing and although I loved it, my dream was to always become a paramedic.
After several attempts at applying to university for the paramedic science degree and having no luck, I took the knock backs in my stride and decided to look for an Access course that I could do in my own time, but would also be beneficial to my future university application, not to mention, get me back into the way of academically thinking. That’s when I found DistanceLearningCentre.com.

By design, the Access to Higher Education course encourages the applicant to apply to university, a consideration that had now been accelerated in my life to the present moment. The idea that I could apply for university, and start in September 2022 if I set my Access to Higher Education completion date to the end of May 2022 excited me. With this in mind, I disclosed the idea to my tutor and I worked hard to achieve the deadline dates and grade marks required.
During my experience with DistanceLearningCentre.com, I realised where my passion lay; inside education and science. I have now left my previous employment and in June 2022 I received my final grade, which secured my spot at two universities following successful interviews.

The DistanceLearningCentre.com Facebook community also helped me with other students who were undertaking a similar course giving good bits of advice. - Sayako Tomiyoshi
DistanceLearningCentre.com had exactly an ideal course (health professional pathway) in order to meet the entry requirements of universities and study online in my spare time, which fit my schedule perfectly. I became determined to go to university in December. The time I had to complete the course was limited until June moderation to be considered to start university 2022/2023. It felt reckless to start the course alongside my work and being a mature student learning in a second language, but I threw myself into the course based on those encouraging reviews on DistanceLearningCentre.com.
The course provides you with a timeframe sheet that you plan your study schedule in order to complete the course within a deadline. Moreover, it helps you with the way of setting goals, how to write academically, filling out the application on UCAS and tips to write a personal statement. It had been a long time since the graduation; therefore, all of the guidance was really helpful.
My tutors were very supportive and understanding of my situation and the limited time I had. They were competent and professional by which being patient with me asking a lot of questions and having a tough time undergoing the study. The DistanceLearningCentre.com Facebook community also helped me with other students who were undertaking a similar course giving good bits of advice.
On the whole, I really could feel the great improvement in my writing, reading, and acquiring more vocabulary. Ultimately, I accomplished my goal by completing the course within the timeframe and earning more than sufficient grades. In fact, I have been offered a place at the university I wished to go to! I am really grateful for choosing DistanceLearningCentre.com and recommend you to do the same. (June 2022)
There is no passion to be found playing small and settling for life that is less than the one you’re capable of living. DistanceLearningCentre.com helped me to go ‘BIG’ and achieve my goals. - Corey Smith
Before I started this course, I had no self-confidence at all in my abilities to even pass the course let alone get into university, as I left school without a single GCSE to my name. I had been a pharmacy dispenser for nearly 5 years in a career I grew to dislike a lot and where progression wasn’t possible for me. Moreover, I got tired of endlessly drifting through life procrastinating and feeling like I wasn’t good or smart enough to ever succeed at anything, as well as looking after my kids as a young dad which further added to my doubts that I wouldn’t be able to achieve my goals. I evaluated my current situation and decided to take my own progression into my own hands, concluding that if I didn’t take the steps towards my goal of being a Nurse, I’d live in regret for the rest of my life for not even attempting, and remain at a job where I had no joy in what I was doing, along with no opportunities of progression. There was nothing scarier in this world than that to me.
DistanceLearningCentre.com had everything I needed to achieve this goal, an access course to Nursing equivalent to 3 A levels, plus Maths and English. Additionally, what I didn’t realise is that it wasn’t just the qualifications I’d be gaining from DistanceLearningCentre.com. I developed the essential skills not just for the course but for university from the very start of the course as I learned how to use punctuation, grammar, and how to structure paragraphs effectively to be able to write essays and reports. Additionally, the developmental units aided me to write an amazing personal statement.
Now that I have fully completed this course with my tutor completing a beautiful reference for me (for university) and achieving distinctions in all my graded units, passing both English and maths, along with gaining a place at university for adult nursing, I have developed into a completely different person that I can honestly say that I am proud of. Furthermore, I have now got the confidence in myself to achieve my goals and find my head in books most of the time fascinated with biology and psychology wanting to learn more as well as just reading in general. I learned a great deal of information regarding mental health in the psychology units and it facilitated me to better understand my mum’s mental health condition (schizophrenia). Lastly, In the last year of working independently with no one to rely on but myself to research, study, and revise, I have become a stronger person learning how to overcome obstacles and developing the necessary skills to achieve my goals.
Overall, this course as well as the support and the aid I received off my tutors is the reason I was able to succeed and become the person I am today. (June 2022)
The course not only helped me understand the subjects I was studying, but it improved my critical thinking, communication and writing skills - Nicole Saint Nom
I really liked doing my course through DistanceLearningCentre.com because it gave me the flexibility I needed. I needed to find a way to get my knowledge level up to British expectation, as the Argentinian qualifications are not valid in the UK, whilst working full time, DistanceLearningCentre.com gave me exactly that.
The tutors have been outstanding. Always available for tutoring sessions and with very quick replies to my emails. When I changed jobs and was struggling with personal issues they were very understanding and supported me in taking some time off the course to be able to give it my all once it all passed. I managed to get really good grades in all my assignments thanks to my tutors and their way of explaining everything, including how to use certain words in English, when the context wasn’t as clear to me due to the language barrier.
The course not only helped me understand the subjects I was studying, but it improved my critical thinking, communication and writing skills, which I not only use for studying, but are essential skills for my work in the care sector.
I would certainly recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone who is looking for high quality, flexible and supportive education. (June 2022)
