When I first started university over ten years ago, I had dreams of being a teacher. However, after having my son only months after my graduation, that dream was put on hold. Fast forward a decade, and I was ready to take back control of my career and my ambitions, and be something other than ‘Mum’.
After researching numerous online courses and colleges, I found DistanceLearningCentre.com. Their reviews were wonderful, and I felt its way of teaching would be a good fit for me. Returning to education as a mature student, I wanted to study subjects I had never studied at an advanced level before, but I knew I had to attain these qualifications to pursue my new dream of being a dietician- still teaching in a way, but teaching people about how to live healthier lives and manage diseases through food, rather than teaching children in a classroom!
I was lucky enough to have the same tutor throughout my entire course, and she was wonderful. Any help I needed, she was there either through an email or on a Skype call, no question too silly! The materials for my course were clear and easy to navigate, and everything I needed material-wise was provided online by my tutor. I was able to manage my studies alongside working full-time and being a mum, because I was able to set my own deadlines and work at my own pace and so never felt overwhelmed.

Being Ex-Army with 12 years’ experience I am used to being busy but thanks to the understanding and support from my tutors, it made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. I learnt a huge amount not just for my current employment but it will also look great to any prospective employers too.
The tutors were really accommodating after telling them I already had 2 degrees and just wanted to do the course for interest. After leaving school before A-levels to successfully pursue a career in Ballet, I found retuning to education terrifying. The memories of struggling with dyslexia at school, resulted in a huge lack of confidence in my ability to learn and succeed in education as an adult.
Due to the naturally short career of a Professional ballet dancer, I have always had a “what next” question in mind, leading to my aspirations to study physiotherapy.
After some research I discovered DistanceLearningCentre.com and the Access to Higher Education Diplomas offered. The example material before enrolling provided a much appreciated inside into the easily digestible format, along with the flexibility to study on my own schedule; allowing me to spend the year with my Fiancé after two years apart due to the pandemic, I felt confident I had found my next step.
