I have recently completed my course studying the Access to Higher Education Diploma (Allied Health Professions) I have enjoyed my time and gained so much more knowledge in the area I want to work. I will be looking to use my skills achieved to gain entry for Nursing at University in a couple of years time when my children are less dependent on me.

In the short term I have achieved work part time at a hospital to gain more knowledge about the field I'd like to end up working in. The studying for me has been hard at times and I've had to take a couple of breaks because of life challenges.

But, every step of the way I have been fully supported by my tutors and I honestly couldn't have achieved it without their constant support. At the age of 36 I had progressed to the top of my career ladder and was looking for change. I had always thought about pursuing a career as a Paramedic, but the idea of getting into and going to university was daunting after 18 years out of education. I contacted the universities I was interested in studying with about entry requirements, all of them recommended an Access to HE Diploma. Although initially sceptical about distance learning, my research directed me towards studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com, and what a great decision that was.

Enrolment was fast and easy, and I was soon talking to my first tutor and starting my first unit. The learning materials set you up for your assignments and with help from my tutors and some research I was soon earning distinctions, something I never thought possible before. My tutors were great, always fast the reply to emails, book me in for a tuition if needed, and an encouraging word when times got tough. I cannot thank them enough.

The assignment deadlines were set by myself, allowing me to maintain a full-time job and continue to volunteer as a community first responder for the ambulance service and a St John vaccinator. I have been offered places at all five universities I applied for, and now have an unconditional offer from my first-choice university to study Paramedic Science.

I feel differently about myself after taking this course, I have achieved grades I'm proud of - Lorraine Clarke

I have been a teacher for 24 years, but it was more by luck than choice. I wanted to be a nurse, but I was too young to start the course at 16, so I did my A Levels and that then led me down the teaching path. Lockdown gave me time to think about my life choices. I also carried little insecurities about my A Level grades which were disappointing at the time, when I considered my predictions. This spurred me to apply for a Access Nursing and Midwifery course with DistanceLearningCentre.com.

I found the course really well organised. The materials and website are easy to use and support has been at hand whenever I needed it. It has been challenging at times, but I never felt I couldn't complete an assignment, as I always knew there was help if I needed it. The course allowed me to fulfil my desire to follow a nursing career and achieve good UCAS points. I feel differently about myself after taking this course. Hello. My name is Zoe and I signed up to do an Access to HE Diploma in Health and Social Care. It was to help me prepare for university, although I didn't technically need it since I'd already achieved my A-level grades 3 years ago. My experience of doing A levels was one that I instantly wanted to forget, therefore the thought of studying in any way again was quite terrifying!

At the start of my course, I did struggle as my mind switched into working non-stop and giving myself a hard time. I was close to stopping however my tutor helped me massively. Their support helped me at the time, and also throughout the duration of the rest of my course since my attitude to studying became more relaxed and I started to enjoy the process of learning again. This was furthered by my next tutor in the second half of my studies.

I did not go to University after I completed secondary school because I was still unsure on what career path I wanted to take. 5 years later, I decided I would like to have the chance to go to University, and DistanceLearningCentre.com provided this opportunity for me!

I did the Access to Social Work course, which will now allow me to do a social work degree at Leeds Beckett University. I completed my access course within 9 months whilst still working my full-time job. I would like to thank my tutors for all their support and guidance.
