My name is James Hopkins I have the learning difficulty dyslexia. I have successfully completed the Access Course with the Distance Learning Centre and gained entry to a university and this is my story.

I have struggled all my life in education, only whilst doing the NVQ in my workplace did my employer send me for an assessment. It resulted in a diagnosis of a high grade of Dyslexia and it was recommended that I didn't attempt any higher education courses.

My ability to read and write has always held me back in my career and during 2013 I decided to contact DistanceLearningCentre.com and enquire about the Access to Nursing Diploma. I was frightened and nervous but DistanceLearningCentre.com were excellent, understanding and helpful. They regularly contacted me by phone and e-mail to keep me updated and were extremely helpful at all times.

When I started the course I was placed with a tutor who had experience in tutoring students with learning difficulties. Initially I was worried about the independent learning and how to write essays and the exams, but this was unfounded as the modules are well managed, easy to understand and they are very self explanatory. The exams are nothing to worry about and all the information is covered in the modules.

The tutors were extremely helpful and contacted me once a week and responded to all my e-mails within 24hrs. DistanceLearningCentre.com interest free finance scheme allows the course to be affordable for persons on low income like myself. Because of the excellent tutors and affordable courses, I was able to achieve merits and distinctions and finish my course within 9 months.

The message to all future students with or without learning difficulties or disabilities, so long as you are enthusiastic, willing to give your time and want to better yourself. You WILL be able to complete this course and use it to get into University like myself. I really do recommend them. I hope you take this advice and fulfil your career ambitions.

The same as many, I studied A-levels when I was 18 but never took the opportunity to attend university, as money called and I entered employment. Now as I am older I found that I wanted to better my education and in fact change my career, however having been out of the system for 20 years it was a daunting prospect.

I researched education providers and quickly discovered that working full time, and with a family, distance learning would be my best option as it gives the flexibility required to gain education and maintain a similar lifestyle.

The DistanceLearningCentre.com Access course allowed me to choose the modules which were relevant and which I found most interesting. The self-directed approach to study has been invaluable in giving me both a base for university life and the confidence to study in this manner, as it is so different from anything I have done before.

It took hard work and commitment but I found it very rewarding. The tutors were great, offering contact as required and always in a timely fashion. The support I had when completing my UCAS form was also fantastic. I started my course in Sept 13 and completed in May 14 with Distinctions, ready to start university in September. I can genuinely say I would not be in this position without DistanceLearningCentre.com!

Stumbling across DistanceLearningCentre.com was a blessing for me; my fortnightly Rota at work prevented me from attending any local college and I had nearly given up on my aspirations before I found them. It gave me the perfect opportunity to work towards a Diploma whilst working full time.

My tutors during the year were fantastic, helpful and massively supportive of my studies. They helped me every step of the way with regular phone calls and responding to emails in double quick time, they were so approachable and down-to-earth, making me feel like I was their only student. With the help of my tutors and my determination, I continued through the year achieving distinctions in subjects I'd feared of failing!

Since completing the course, I've been given a firm place at Canterbury Christ Church University on the BSc Midwifery course, as well as a job at my local maternity unit as a Maternity Care Assistant. If it wasn't for DistanceLearningCentre.com I wouldn't have got this far, it's hard to believe that a year ago I was close to giving up entirely! I thank DistanceLearningCentre.com wholeheartedly for my success.

In order to achieve my dream of becoming a Paramedic, having never achieved A-Levels at school, it was necessary to venture back into the academic world. DistanceLearningCentre.com was ideally suited to supporting me as, working full time in IT and volunteering for a major first aid provider in my spare time, it was important that my studying could be fluid and adapt to my fluctuating schedule.

Accessing tutor support was simple and I found that the high quality and constructive feedback provided was invaluable in helping me improve my writing and academic style over the course of the Diploma. My experience with DistanceLearningCentre.com has been entirely positive and has culminated in my being offered a place to study Paramedic Science starting in September 2014.

I would, without hesitation, recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone looking to enter Higher Education or simply to further their learning.

Anyone reading this was me a year and a half ago, and it doesn't seem real I have now completed it! I did my Maths and English GCSE Equivalence, and my Access to HE Diploma which included biology and psychology.

With three children, one of which is only two and at home, I had to do my assessments while she had a nap and the evenings. It was a lot of hard work and sometimes overwhelming; however the feeling of achievement after every assessment is completed out ways this as you are one step closer to your dream.

I now have the grades to get into university which I never thought would be possible and one day will have my dream career of being a midwife. DistanceLearningCentre.com is a great way to start your journey, the tutors are helpful and understanding of your circumstances, the assessments are well laid out and easy to follow.

I would like to say a massive thank you to DistanceLearningCentre.com for providing this opportunity for me.
