Thanks to this programme, I have secured my place at university to study Diagnostic Radiography this September - Dan Houghton
As I approached my medical discharge date, marking the end of a 12-year career as an RAF Imagery Intelligence Analyst, I felt a lot of uncertainty and apprehension about what I wanted to do next. I knew I didn’t just want a "job", but a meaningful career like the one I was imminently leaving behind. I knew I probably wanted to remain in the public sector and had initially thought about training as a paramedic before realising it perhaps wasn’t the right move for me.
After a lightbulb moment, and with a background working with imagery (albeit in a slightly different way), Radiography came to the forefront of my mind. The more I researched it, the more I felt it would be a perfect fit for me. I felt I already possessed the practical, transferable skills required, but I was missing the formal qualifications, so I began looking into how to bridge that gap.
When I found DistanceLearningCentre.com, it was immediately apparent that this would be the ideal stepping stone between leaving the RAF and launching this new career. Whilst I already had A-levels, they were a distant memory and were not science-based, which university courses required. Completing an Access to HE Diploma in Radiography was the obvious first step.
Returning to education felt daunting, and I initially doubted my ability to handle the academic workload. However, the structured materials, resources, and webinars made the course much easier to follow, allowing me to understand the content and study at a pace that worked for me.
Studying for my Access to HE Diploma in Radiography has been an incredibly rewarding journey. Thanks to this programme, I have secured my place at university to study Diagnostic Radiography this September. It has given me both the academic foundation and the confidence I need to take the next big step in my life. I am so grateful for the experience and highly recommend it to anyone looking to return to education.
I would recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone of any age or qualification - Mia Catmull
After 2 years out of education due to struggling with my mental health and 3 years trying to achieve my GCSES and A levels at various colleges across mine and bordering counties, finding DistanceLearningCentre.com seemed too good to be true…exactly what I wanted to do and giving me the qualifications to go to university to become a vet, so I gave the Access to HE Science a go. I have faced some major struggles this year, but being able to do it online has greatly helped. My tutors have been amazing and were on hand whenever I had an issue or needed an extension. I found all the resources so helpful and made learning easy and flexible. I would recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone of any age or qualification. I have finally got the grades I need and am off to University to study Veterinary this year.
The study skills assessments were a very helpful and a useful introduction to the course - Lily Bright Atherton
Prior to studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com, I had left college to pursue a career in the armed forces, specifically in the intelligence trade. Unfortunately, I had realised that it wasn’t my true passion and decided to leave and re-trade as a student nurse; however, I was in need of UCAS points and experience within a care setting. DistanceLearningCentre.com was recommended to me as I was able to study, learn and also earn an income simultaneously, in order to gain the requirements needed to pursue my nursing career.
The Nursing and Midwifery course I completed was the first piece of independent study I had ever participated in, and so I required a lot of guidance from my tutors, which they provided me with many times. I felt relieved in the fact that if I was ever confused, I was able to ask as many questions needed until I felt comfortable with the task. After every submission, there was always constructive feedback on the assessments so that I could clearly see where I may have went wrong, how I could further improve and what I did well. This was massively helpful to me as it meant I could see where I was improving and which aspects I needed a bit more guidance on.
The assessments themselves I found difficult; a lot of research is involved in them, and I had never used the Harvard referencing format before, and so, that was a big part for me to learn. The study skills assessments were a very helpful and a useful introduction to the course; it helped me refresh my writing skills I had previously learned in school and helped me learn how to effectively research into different topics. The assessments and worksheets I completed actually helped and guided me through my work life also, specifically when I was studying health and social care. I gained my work experience from working in a care home, I had never worked in a care setting previously, and so studying health and social care and researching in depth into social issues really helped me broaden my understanding. It also helped me give the best care and support to my residents as I had gained a deeper understanding on safeguarding in particular, I knew what issues to look for and how to act if I was ever to witness or hear of a safeguarding issue, which I found very useful. There was instance where I had to use what I had learned from the safeguarding lessons into a real situation, I recognised the issue, knew who to report to and knew what channels to access in order to keep receiving updates on my report. Now that I have completed the course and gained the work experience I required, I am now free and able to pursue my nursing career in the armed forces, this course has given me the confidence and skills necessary to begin studying at university.
I would recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone - Jessica Lock
I loved studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com. I was able to travel at the same time as learning and writing my essays. I was worried that there would be a lack of support due to it being distance learning; however, my tutors were readily available when I needed support, whether that was via email or a scheduled call. I had the independence to complete tasks in my own time and at my own pace. I would recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone considering.
I am due to start university this September, which I know would not be the case if I had not had the support of all my tutors - Sam Kells
My name is Sam, and I am 26 years old. Before discovering DistanceLearningCentre.com, I had previously had consistently bad experiences of academia and the educational system as a whole. As someone who has dyslexia and only learned to read at the age of 11, I had become totally disillusioned with education and had no desire to continue studying after the compulsory school/sixth form years.
I have been constantly employed since my first part-time job secured during sixth form. I then worked consistently, even through Covid, at the test centres and later in adult mental health support and am now working as a support worker for adults with autism. However, a few years later, when I was 22 years old, I decided to pursue further education through DistanceLearningCentre.com. A family member found information on DistanceLearningCentre.com on social media, and after researching various remote studying options, I decided to contact them.
My initial experience with DistanceLearningCentre.com was excellent; they talked me through the process and the business model and were always available to assist me with any questions up to and during my enrolment. As I was in employment, often working 24-hour shifts and unsociable hours, at the same time as studying, the flexibility of being able to put my studies on hold short-term if necessary was beyond excellent.
DistanceLearningCentre.com were able to update my dyslexia screening document. My initial tutor was brilliant and enabled me to write well-formed essays about several topics, a tall order for a dyslexic student who had not learned to punctuate during his school years. The tutorials were also extremely beneficial to ensure I was on track.
I am due to start university this September, which I know would not be the case if I had not had the support of all my tutors at DistanceLearningCentre.com as well as the technical team and the administration staff. I would recommend anyone to contact DistanceLearningCentre.com, as I am sure they will be able to reassure you and guide you on the correct courses to take to get you on the path to your next step in your career.
