I can’t thank DistanceLearningCentre.com enough for what they have done for me, and I highly recommend them - Ed Carter

At the start of year 13, I left school as a result of struggling with OCD. I self-studied to sit one A Level in 2024, and my other two in 2025. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the result I wanted on the A Level I sat in 2024. It was a difficult decision, but I decided not to continue with my two A Levels and to pursue an Access to HE diploma. I’ve always preferred assessment via coursework in comparison to exams; when I discovered the Access to HE diploma, I was hopeful that I might be able to get into a good university. The availability of an extensive range of excellent teaching resources and guides attracted me to DistanceLearningCentre.com when I was choosing an Access to HE provider. Each assignment brief contained more than enough online sources where information could be gathered to deepen subject understanding.

In my first graded unit, I achieved a merit. Due to the sheer amount of effort I put into this unit, I thought I was going to get a distinction. This really put it into perspective for me that this was my last chance to get into a good university, and that I needed to do everything I possibly could to get distinctions. My tutor was so helpful throughout my course; with her help, after my first unit, I got 8 consecutive distinctions. Moreover, I achieved distinctions across each assessment criterion in 5 of the units; in the remaining 4, I achieved distinctions across each assessment criterion, apart from 1, whereby a merit was achieved. After each assignment, I received a marking/feedback sheet. These were thorough and informative; any areas which needed improvement were pinpointed. These helped me massively to secure my grades as I could ensure that I never made the same mistake twice.

Another thing to note is that my tutor gave me some great feedback on my personal statement, which allowed me to get 5 offers. I can’t thank DistanceLearningCentre.com enough for what they have done for me, and I highly recommend them.

The future really is what you work to make it…I can’t wait to see what this chapter opens up for me. - Caitlyn Cook

The thought of studying has been terrifying to me since I left school with poor mental health and felt I had left myself trapped in a cycle of dead-end jobs with no qualifications. DistanceLearningCentre.com gave me the chance to find myself, work with my strengths and the chance to better my future career for mine and my son’s futures. Despite having to take a few breaks, due to a house move, or even when I gave birth, the support from staff has been nothing short of exceptional.

I can’t believe at age 27, I will finally be able to pursue a career in the legal sector; 17-year-old me would be so proud. I would encourage anybody thinking about doing the Access to HE Courses to go for it. The future really is what you work to make it… I can’t wait to see what this chapter opens up for me.

I never imagined university was possible, but thanks to DistanceLearningCentre.com and my tutor’s support, I am now heading to the University of Sunderland to study Physiotherapy. - Francesco Pappa-McNeilly

My dream has always been to become a physiotherapist, but like many, I didn’t get the grades at A-level and ended up doing something I wasn't passionate about. At the time, I didn’t know there were other options, so I thought my chance had gone. It’s unfortunate that the school system doesn’t make you aware of courses like this or different modes of learning, because they can genuinely change lives. For a long time, I honestly believed university wasn’t possible for me anymore.

Finding the Access to HE Diploma in Allied Health Professions with DistanceLearningCentre.com changed everything. The course was flexible enough to fit around my full-time job, while challenging me enough to prepare me for the career I’ve always wanted. My tutors were always supportive. Whether it was helping me understand assignments, giving me advice on university interviews or just offering encouragement when I needed it most.

It wasn’t just about learning the modules that link directly to Physiotherapy, it also taught me how to be a good student again. The diploma encouraged me to develop different study skills compared to sixth form, that aligned with my learning style more, making me a more rounded and independent learner. I’m proud to say I achieved full distinction, which has given me so much confidence going into the next stage of my journey.

Most importantly, this course has unlocked my dream of becoming a physiotherapist. 12 years on - I now have the qualifications, skills, and belief in myself to do it. In September, I will begin studying Physiotherapy at the University of Sunderland, which feels like a full-circle moment for me. I can’t thank DistanceLearningCentre.com enough for helping me finally get back on track towards the career I’ve always wanted.

To anyone unsure if university is still possible for them, I would now confidently say - don’t give up. There are more opportunities out there than you realise, and they can truly change your life.

I’ve now completed a level 3 course, and have an offer to start University in September! - Sarah Bajor

I have thoroughly enjoyed my time studying through DistanceLearningCentre.com. Every challenge I faced with the work, my tutors were quick to book in a call so we were able to talk through what I needed to do. Sometimes I’d need 4/5 calls about the same question because it just wouldn’t go in, but the tutors stayed patient and reassured me that I was smart enough to finish the course, even though I had my doubts along the way.

I ended up having to take a break from learning due to spending some time in hospital, which was a stress-free process as all I had to do was send an email to my tutor. If I had taken on the access course through an in-person college, I wouldn’t have been able to take the time off I needed to recover, meaning it would have been something I’d have failed. But DistanceLearningCentre.com is so flexible, and is designed to fit around your life. I never thought I’d be in a position where I’ve now completed a level 3 course, and have an offer to start University in September! It’s been a journey and a half to get there, but I am so grateful to my tutors for believing in me and showing me that I am capable. Sometimes you just have to adjust the way you learn things, or need a bit more time, which is totally okay! Thank you, DistanceLearningCentre!

All of my hard work has opened the door to my dream university - Rosa Clarke

When I left my A-level studies at 16, I felt lost, and I began to wonder if I was capable of academic success. But then I found the DistanceLearningCentre.com, and it has shown me that I just needed an alternative method of study, one that I could do in my own time with one-on-one support.

When I enrolled on the Access Diploma for Built Environment, I felt hopeless as myself esteem academically was low, and as I began my studies, my mother's illness had worsened. This had led to my days being split between studying, caring, and trying to hold everything together, but the turning point came from the kindness and encouragement of my tutor. She helped me find studying methods that worked for me, celebrated my progress, and was my biggest cheerleader. Distance learning gave me the flexibility to study on my own terms, to fit learning around life, not the other way around.

Assignments that once felt overwhelming became opportunities to prove that I was capable of success. This led to me earning the highest grades possible.  All of my hard work has opened the door to my dream university, something I thought I could never achieve.

I am so grateful to DistanceLearningCentre.com for more than just a qualification. They gave me a second chance to show my potential and have given me a second chance to grow academically.
