This Access Diploma has opened up many opportunities for me - Charlotte Markham

Studying at DistanceLearningCentre.com has been a fantastic experience and has helped me improve my academic skills and get the grades needed to apply to university.

I found my passion for childcare after doing work placement within a nursery setting which led me to get my Early Years Childcare Practitioner Level 3 Diploma so that I could continue working with children. I also became a self-employed nanny but after working between different settings, I felt I wanted to push myself further and see if I can go to university. Although I had diplomas, they were not enough to get into the university courses I wanted.

This is when I chose to do the Childhood Studies HE Diploma that I have now completed after a year of study.

I chose DistanceLearningCentre.com because it had the perfect course that would give me the grades and access to get into university and study a Educational and Developmental Psychology Degree.

When enrolling into the course, the tutors, student services and learning support were very informative and helpful. They were supportive when disclosing disabilities and what accommodations I may require, which helped me a huge amount to complete this course.

While studying, I became so inspired by the materials and what I was learning. It has encouraged my passion for helping children with their well-being and education curriculum and I will be able to use the knowledge I have from this course for my future career.

I wanted to achieve good grades and overall completing the Diploma, which was made possible by the tutors that supported and helped me develop my academic skills. The feedback from every assignment helped me amend any mistakes and progress my writing skills for the next assignment. With this help I was able to achieve a Distinction on all of my assignments and even though I had this as a goal to achieve, every time I got the marks, I was always shocked, ecstatic and proud of myself. I couldn't have achieved this without the support, so thank you!

I was able to work within a nursery, be a casual catering assistant/bartender and complete this course! It was definitely hard and I did reduce my hours quite a bit so that I could keep my focus, but it was very flexible around life and the tutors were very accommodating for any issues that occurred.

This Access Diploma has opened up many opportunities for me and I am so glad I took the leap and decided to study here!

I will always be grateful that I've had this opportunity and I may even return in future if I ever need to.

Thank you DistanceLearningCentre.com.

The support I received from the tutors was so great - Kother Amin

I started the course with DistanceLearningCentre.com in December 2023 with the aim of finishing it by May 2024. That meant I had to complete an assignment every week to meet moderation. At first, I was worried how I was going to achieve that whilst juggling a full-time job and my personal life. However, the support I received from the tutors was so great, I was able to achieve all my targets. My goal was to have an extra qualification so I can apply for an Occupational Therapy Degree Apprenticeship. Having achieved my goal, I can now apply to university with an extra qualification!

I can't wait to see what I am capable to achieve in the future - Harriette Matthews

It has taken quite a lot of determination to complete this course which has taken a few years to complete, I have overcome many adverse experiences throughout the past couple of years and have been given the opportunity to look in depth into some of what has shaped me to the point I'm at today. During this time I have also been diagnosed with autism which has been an experience in itself. I have developed an understanding for myself that I never had before but I have also had to come to terms with some of the hardships I have had to face throughout my life and now I am giving my brain a chance to see what it can achieve academically and personally. I have been studying counselling level 2 and 3 (fast track) whilst completing my Access to HE Diploma and have utilised the biology aspect of my course to get me into a course at university that I feel strongly connected too - animal behaviour and conservation. My hope is that I am able to spend some time abroad in the future utilising my conservation expertise that I will acquire in the coming years of my education. I have also been doing personal and academic work whilst studying counselling and will be going on to study my level 4 in counselling over the duration of the next two years in the form of evening classes of once a week. I am so grateful that I didn't give up on my education and that the DistanceLearningCentre.com continued to support me in my academic journey which has gotten me to reach my diploma and catapulted me into university. The DistanceLearningCentre.com was the start of my higher education journey and the possibilities of what I may achieve now are endless. I can only thank you for beginning me on the journey and I can't wait to see what I am capable to achieve in the future.

The course material was so accessible, I could read material in bed, at an appointment, even on holiday. - Kate Baird

I completed the Access to HE Diploma in Medicine course during a difficult period for me. I had to leave university due to a neurological spinal condition which left me bed bound, and was feeling scared and hopeless. I have always wanted to study medicine, but never had the self-belief. The course introduced me to fascinating biomedical, chemistry and physics material that I never believed was ‘for me’. I loved every second of it.

The course material was so accessible, I could read material in bed, at an appointment, even on holiday. I covered my house in notes and bought every textbook going… I discovered a passion and drive for learning again. My tutor was fantastic and a source of constant support and inspiration. She never let me doubt myself and I got the distinction I was hoping for! Now I can apply to medicine once I have surgery! The course provided me with hope, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

If you have dynamic health need and cannot work consistently or have ADHD like me then this is perfect - Annabel Chambers

This time last year, I never could’ve dreamed that I got to where I am now. Distancelearningcentre.com provided me with exactly what I needed for me to take the next step in my life.

I have chronic fatigue syndrome, ADHD and mental health difficulties – in my first year of sixth form I was very ill and struggled to get out of bed, stay awake and concentrate in lessons so I dropped out of school. I have always been very ambitious academically and this blow to my confidence was huge.

After moving out and being out of education for a few months I realised that I needed something to keep me going and provide hope about my future. I had moved out to pursue modelling in London, but this wasn’t enough for me. I looked into courses and the Access to Higher Education Diploma in Psychology looked like it would suit me the best as I was unable to adhere to a schedule of an in-person course and knew I wouldn’t be able to commit to it physically.

I was very nervous to start, as I wasn’t sure if my chronic fatigue and ADHD would get in the way of studying again and I would have to abandon something else. I was also wary of being able to complete the course all online. However, the course structure suited me and my needs – if I was having bad days physically (where I couldn’t get out of bed or was too tired to work) then I could just take a break or if I was having difficulty with my ADHD and couldn’t concentrate then I could just leave it and pick it up later. It also meant that I could continue a course while working as a model part-time in London and a bartender at home in Somerset. The structure also enabled me to get though a lot of content very quickly if I wanted to; for example, if I was having a good physical and concentration day then I could complete a lot of tasks very quickly. I was also able to put the course on pause for a few months to go travelling. My tutors were all very helpful and happy to give extensions if I couldn’t make deadlines.

I have finished the course and left with all distinctions, which is equal UCAS points wise to AAA in A levels. These are the grades I dreamed of when I was at sixth form, but they were out of reach. I secured a place at my first choice of university at Birkbeck, University of London to do Psychology BSc. My tutor was very helpful with my UCAS application and helped me get to university.

I cannot thank DistanceLearningCentre.com enough, without them I wouldn’t be going to university, my self-esteem would be much lower, and I would be stuck working in hospitality – they gave me the boost I needed to help me realise that my goals are achievable, and I can do it. I cannot recommend them enough to anyone, if you have dynamic health needs and cannot work consistently or have ADHD like me then this is perfect as you have the freedom to work at your own pace and the support of the wonderful tutors to help you along the way. I highly recommend this course to anyone who needs to prove to themselves that they can do it.
