My experience with the DistanceLearningCentre.com has been incredibly positive from start to finish - Emma France

My experience with the DistanceLearningCentre.com has been incredibly positive from start to finish. I have for a long time wanted very much to have a career within the health industry either as a paramedic or a nurse or both! But unfortunately, due to difficult circumstances out of my control, I left school without any GCSE qualifications which limited any future career prospects.

I had a nice job as a beauty therapist and traveled the world with it. However, after twenty-four years of doing this job, I really wanted a change and to pick up the ambition of working within the health care sector. For this I needed to invest in my education.

Not really knowing where to start I did a little internet searching and came across the DistanceLearningCentre.com. It ticked all the boxes I needed to move forward.

The course itself is great, I really enjoyed the subjects, and the learning really boosted my confidence. I was allocated two tutors who were both incredibly supportive. I very much enjoyed my tutorials with them, and their guidance was invaluable. I was especially grateful on the help I received with my application to UCAS. I also have to mention Student Services, who were so helpful when I needed help sorting out any technical difficulties.

I am happy to report that I am sat with an offer from Liverpool John Moore University to enroll onto their adult nursing course in September. Along with the Functional Skills in Math and English, the Access to Higher Education Diploma I have done with DistanceLearningCentre.com is the gateway I needed to walk through to get started in my new career. I was so proud of myself ... This is only the beginning - Jazmin Moran

A couple of years ago I enrolled to do an Access to HE Diploma with DistanceLearningCentre.com as I wanted to study Paramedic Science. At first, I couldn’t really see it being possible. I’ve had so many setbacks in my life (sometimes my fault and sometimes not) I didn’t really believe I could do it.

I volunteered during Covid and then joined the Red Cross where someone, somehow believed in me enough to offer me bank work as an ambulance crew.

I always knew I wanted my daughter to have a different upbringing to the one I’d had and I was going to have to work really hard to ensure that.  Finding the money for the course was difficult, I was living on benefits and scraping by most of the time. A lot of the people around me mocked me for wanting to change my life.

Somehow though I managed to keep going and I had contact with an organisation that really celebrated each time I managed to pass a module! My tutors were both supportive and honest with me and gradually I began to believe it might be possible to gain the marks I needed for a Uni place.

I wanted to give up when we had to move address four times and sometimes live with other people which made studying almost impossible. As time went by I caught the studying habit and somehow it started to feel more natural and I truly wanted to do my best ‘Maybe I can really do this after all’.

When I’d exceeded the marks I needed for my conditional offer at Uni it was such a good feeling.  I was so proud of myself: no-one else did the work – just me. No-one else paid for the course – just me. No-one can take it away from me.

I’m so grateful that I carried on despite the many obstacles in my way. I learned so much in terms of self-discipline, how other people can help you learn, how to self-organise, how to study, and on and on and on – not to mention I learned an awful lot about biology, psychology, sociology, etc.

My little girl tells me I’m a Super Hero and I give her a cuddle as we go upstairs to bed for a story set in the future.

Once upon a time, there was a woman called Jazmin - she was amazing and although things didn't always go smoothly for her she hung on in there and kept going! I have reminded myself through crippling anxiety that this is only the beginning and not the end. (June 2023)

I was fortunate enough to secure offers from all my applications - Christopher Maguire

DistanceLearningCentre.com offered me full flexibility, allowing me to fit my Access Diploma studies around existing work commitments but also to pick up the pace whenever I had more free time. This allowed me to complete the full Access course in 6 months. Tutor support was rapid, thorough, and well informed. The learning style is conducive to university study and prepares you well for that experience - you 'learn how to learn' and are encouraged to take initiative and control of your own programme.

I gave the course my all, not least because of the engaging and supportive tutors, the excellent online community, and the high-quality learning materials - but also because I simply find the topics so engaging. With the help of DistanceLearningCentre.com I was fortunate enough to secure offers from all my applications.

I thoroughly enjoyed the process, acquiring shedloads of new knowledge which will serve me well for the future. I would highly recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone thinking of pursuing a new qualification - just as it was highly recommended to me. Keep doing what you're doing, DistanceLearningCentre.com, great work! (June 2023)

My academic confidence has never been higher, and it has instilled certainty in me that I can study for my degree alongside working in my dream job! - Janie Syrett

Academics have never been my strong suit. I came out of my A Levels with mediocre grades, adamant that I never wanted to study again and not knowing where my path would take me. Before taking my A Levels, I had a suspicion I was dyslexic. However, the coronavirus pandemic prohibited my college from progressing this inkling further; I was told to investigate this if I ever wanted to attend higher education.

When looking at my future career, I always knew I wanted to work with others and provide support for those in need. At the beginning of my second year out of education, I realised that social work embodied everything I wanted to achieve in my career. In order to gain my social work degree, I recognised that I needed to increase my UCAS points. When researching ways to do this, I came across DistanceLearningCentre.com. It really appealed to me as it was entirely coursework based, flexible in its approach and had academic support whenever required. However, I had experienced distance learning with my A Levels during Covid, so I was a little concerned as it was safe to say that it didn’t end the way I’d hoped. Despite my worries, I signed up for my Diploma in November 2022, just before the deadline to get my grades to attend university in September 2023.

The following six months were intense, spending what felt like every waking minute working for my Diploma. During my DistanceLearningCentre.com journey, I received my official dyslexia diagnosis, confirming my previous struggles. The support I received throughout this experience was incredible, from my tutor all the way through to the learning materials. The Diploma started with preparing to progress to higher education; this was invaluable as it reintroduced me back to essay writing and equipped me with all the tools I needed. The course content was easy to follow, and I could even draw upon the topics during my university interviews. Along with this, my tutor was absolutely amazing, supporting me throughout my dyslexia diagnosis in helping me discover a suitable learning and writing style, providing constructive feedback to improve my work, and providing a safe, friendly experience through Zoom calls and quick email responses.

Six months ago, when I signed up to DistanceLearningCentre.com with doubts about online learning, I never dreamed of being in this position. I have achieved consistent distinctions throughout my Diploma and was offered four places at university, two of which are from top Russell Group universities. But my journey doesn’t stop there! My sister saw an advert for a degree apprenticeship, to which I hastily applied – and was offered the position!  My academic confidence has never been higher, and it has instilled certainty in me that I can study for my degree alongside working in my dream job! If I can achieve this, then so can you!

I didn't have to go through the hassle of going back to school and could do it from home - Rosie McKee

Before DistanceLearningCentre.com I was feeling lost on what I wanted to do with my life, I dropped out of college before getting a degree and four years later I was still stuck. I wanted a change in my life and found DistanceLearningCentre.com, which was perfect for me, since I didn't have to go through the hassle of going back to school and could do it from home.

I studied the Access to HE Diploma in Humanities and wanted to be able to go to university in 2023 to study English. Which I am now! I am thankful to my tutors for supporting me and helping me when I needed it and when I felt stressed. (June 2023)
