DistanceLearningCentre.com not only restored my confidence in studying but also opened up numerous new opportunities… - River Beaumont

High school taught me that further education wasn’t possible for someone like myself. I was hesitant about online learning due to past experience. Shortly before starting the course, I was diagnosed with severe dyslexia. I found it difficult to get my head around the course at first but when I spoke to my tutor, I felt a lot more at ease.

I have never learned in my own environment before; at first, I always did most of my assignments incorrectly, however when speaking to tutors it was great to be reassured and listened to. I would regularly make mistakes and would need to talk to my tutor again but in the end, I would always get to the finishing line. I can say it was a hard journey as I struggled with a lot of the work. Without the invaluable support from my tutors, it is safe to assume that I would not have succeeded. I have faced hard challenges in my time, for me learning has always been the most difficult.

DistanceLearningCentre.com not only restored my confidence in studying but also opened up numerous new opportunities that I thought were previously beyond my reach. (June 2023)

I learned so much that I will be able to apply to my course at university - Fadzai Tinarwo

After the birth of my daughter in 2020, I finally took the decision to pursue my studies. This decision came after many years of self-doubt, anxiety and reluctance. I knew I had to take that important first step, the time felt right for me and I am so glad I went for it. Before enrolling with DistanceLearningCentre.com, I did my Functional Skills Maths & English Level 2 and completed in 2021. In November that year, my journey with DistanceLearningCentre.com began.

Working as a Mental health support worker for some years, prepared me for the career path I was about to embark on. Having worked alongside skilled professionals such as Social Workers, and seeing how they applied their skills and knowledge to their work and how much they impacted people’s lives really inspired me to pursue a career in Social Work. So, I enrolled myself on an Access to HE Diploma in Health and Social Care with DistanceLearningCentre.com.

The distance learning method was very convenient for me as I had a new born at home, and it was during the Covid-19 pandemic. Being a mature student, it was important that I did not feel under pressure, so this meant that I could study at my own pace and suitable time. I really enjoyed my course; the study materials were straightforward and easy to follow. The course content was very much relevant to what I will be studying at university. I learned so much that I will be able to apply to my course at university, such as essay writing, Harvard referencing, independent learning, meeting deadlines etc. My tutor was very efficient, supportive and helpful throughout. She supported me with my UCAS application and personal statement writing which I found quite daunting.

Halfway through my course, I experienced some personal challenges that affected my ability to focus fully on my studies and as a result, I failed to make moderation in June 2022. I felt really disappointed in myself and began to question my abilities going forward, I was on the verge of giving up on everything including my dream of becoming a Social Worker. I had lost all motivation and felt that I was never going to make it to university. Thankfully, I managed to pick myself up and carried on after taking a short break. I have to thank my tutor, for her patience and encouraging me during that difficult time. I also want to thank the student support team for their understanding and willingness to help find a way to resolve a matter I had brought to their attention. In spite of everything, I am happy to say I completed the course with more than enough UCAS points required for my Degree, I managed to achieve 42 Distinctions and 3 Merits! I am really proud of myself for having the mental strength to keep going and refusing to accept defeat.

I am excited for the future and looking forward to starting my Social Work Degree in September. All of this would have not been possible if it wasn’t for the great support, I got from DistanceLearningCentre.com, I am truly grateful and highly recommended. My life will never be the same, I am finally going to university! Thank you DistanceLearningCentre.com for everything. (June 2023)

The support that I’ve been given has been exceptional - Channel Dennis

From the moment I started my journey with DistanceLearningCentre.com, I have had an incredibly positive experience. The support that I’ve been given has been exceptional and I am incredibly grateful, it is one of the reasons why I was able to excel on my course. Each and every single member of staff that I have been in contact with has been amazing. In addition, communication with them was effective and fast and they were all extremely helpful. The learning materials supplied to me contained information relevant to the assessment. However, it also encouraged additional reading/ learning from different sources, which broadened my understanding of the topic further. They have increased my confidence in learning independently and taught me vital skills to aid me during my journey in higher education. I am very glad that I came across DistanceLearningCentre.com and I would gladly recommend them to anyone looking for an alternative to A- levels or a way to enter university. (June 2023)

It worked really well for me and my family - Florence Spadone

I chose not to pursue higher education at 16 as I went straight into full time employment and then spent years raising my family. My children are getting older now so I felt the time was right to think about training and careers. Nursing and healthcare appealed to me for many reasons but mainly I was inspired due to personal experiences of family members receiving amazing care within the NHS.

This course has been such a brilliant opportunity and offered a gateway into higher education / undergraduate courses in a really flexible and person focused way. The online tutors were always readily available and the support was brilliant all the way through. It was certainly not easy at times and took a great deal of organisation, discipline and self-motivation when juggling life, kids and work alongside the studying. Unfortunately, I experienced 2 bereavements in my family during the year I was studying, but the support from my tutor was amazing and adjustments were made to allow extensions on a couple of assignments. Home online learning in this was perfect for me as it meant I could work on the course as and when suited around my life, which often meant night-time studying but it worked really well for me and my family.

I'm so proud I have completed and achieved the qualification, with plenty of distinctions! It has helped me secure employment in a pediatric healthcare setting, an area I have always been interested in working in. The next step for me now will be a pediatric nursing apprenticeship which will begin in March next year. (June 2023)

The tutors have been such an amazing help with both support with the course and emotional support - Mechelle Dale

While working through the pandemic as a Healthcare assistant I felt like I could give my patients more. One of my colleagues recommended DistanceLearningcentre.com to do my access course, so I could then go on and study towards my nursing degree. As the course is so flexible, I was able to carry on working towards completing my access course as well as taking care of my family. The tutors have been such an amazing help with both support with the course and emotional support, as I was having trouble with my children one of who has additional needs and the other who needed a lot of support with his mental health. The course is so well laid out and easy to understand, it never becomes overwhelming.

Unfortunately, while studying I had to put my course on hold as my partner had an accident while at work and was hospitalised, so I didn’t have support I needed to carry on. The tutor who I was working with, was so understanding, and supported me through the whole thing gave me the numbers I needed to call to put my course on hold. When I returned to the course again it was on a date to suit me, there was no pressure it was all explained to me, and the support was next to non.

I have gone on to successfully complete my access course and I have recently been offered a job within my NHS trust to become a Trainee Nursing Associate! Though a dream of mine I never thought it would actually happen yet here I am starting university in October to achieve my dream job. I have been able to prove to my children that no matter your age you can still go on and achieve your dreams! Thank you Distancelearningcentre.com! (June 2023)
