I have been accepted to Dundee university to start this September and I wouldn’t do it without you all. - Ainise Carbula

I have been through so much while studying my access to Nursing. As I started, I lost my mother and I have been lucky to have tutors who are very supportive in those time of mourning. After a year I lost my husband which was the hardest experience I have ever had that I have to study and also keep a full-time job to keep my two children well looked after. DistanceLearningCentre.com had faith in me, that I will complete my diploma and I actually completed it with amazing results. I would like to thank my most loving and kind tutors who supported me -throughout these horrible times that I went through. My tutors, who have supported and motivated me to go through this journey and end it with a good result. I have been accepted to Dundee university to start this September and I wouldn’t do it without you all. Thank you for the amazing experience and I will make sure, to let people know how amazing you all are.

After years of contemplating what to do with my future, I decided to study an Access to HE course. Due to having just moved back to England I needed something I could do whilst working a full-time job. Luckily, I found the DistanceLearningCentre.com! Though I started in November 2019, and only just finishing June 2022, I finally completed the course. Through the past two years I struggled with my mental health, especially through covid, meaning I had to take breaks from studying. My tutor and DistanceLearningCentre.com were understanding and helped me. After a 6-month break, I got back to it and now here I am. I was never under pressure from anybody to speed up, always being able to complete tasks in my own time. My tutor was always available when I needed help with course materials, and even when I thought I would fail exams, she encouraged me and had faith in me.  All in all, it’s been a great experience, although some of the material isn't the greatest, I would use DistanceLearningCentre.com again. There is a great community in a group on Facebook as well! If you are looking at studying, go for it! (June 2022)

I knew I wanted to apply to university whilst studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com and my tutor encouraged and helped me every step of the way - Katie Egleton

As a mature student with a new-found passion for studying, I began my Access to Nursing and Midwifery Diploma with DistanceLearningCentre.com in November 2020. For me, it was the first big step to returning to study and pursuing my goal of becoming a midwife. Recommended to me by a friend, the flexibility and affordability of the course seemed like the perfect route to gaining a respectable qualification that would help me reach my dream whilst fitting in around my family and work life.

I was very nervous as to how I would cope studying online, especially because of the pandemic but I needn’t have worried as the support and guidance I received from day one was brilliant. The communication was superb from the first email I received from the company to the many efficient replies I had regarding any questions I had with assignments. The process was the same for each module, work through the detailed materials provided, answer student assessed questions to check understanding and along with further research, complete the assignment. Each set of materials was very clear and concise and contained further links and reading that helped immensely in fully understanding the subject. Approaching each module in this same way worked well because it allowed me to realise and meet my deadlines and ensured I understood each topic fully before moving on. I was encouraged and able to ask for any help I needed along the way and no question was too big or too small for my tutors. They also made it clear I was able to extend my deadlines if needed which was a huge relief when going through the uncertainty of the pandemic and having a young family.

There were a few times throughout the course when I felt overwhelmed and like I would never get to the end of it but the support from my family, my tutors and other DistanceLearningCentre.com students on the Facebook community was so valuable in helping me confront these tough situations. The feeling of relief and pride after uploading each assignment, often late at night, is one I won’t forget in a hurry. Nearer the end of my studies, I felt more able to offer advice and help to others who were just beginning their studies and pass on anything I had found helpful.

I knew I wanted to apply to university whilst studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com and my tutor encouraged and helped me every step of the way. It was such an easy process and having already focussed on how to write a personal statement near the beginning of the course, I felt I was very well prepared. I was thrilled and amazed to receive a university offer for the BSc Hons Midwifery Degree course for September 2022. This absolutely would not have been achievable for me without the support, empowerment and guidance given to me by my family and tutors at DistanceLearningCentre.com. They helped build my confidence and made me realise I could achieve what I wanted to with hard work, discipline and determination and I have no doubt these skills will help me further my career.

I would highly recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone wishing to study a higher education course. They offer affordable, flexible routes into a variety of professions and the supportive and encouraging tutors are next to none! (June 2022)

I am an Autistic/Asperger's person, who wants to be an architect.  I was told about DistanceLearningCentre.com online, as I felt I could not go to a Uni without support. I found courses in Construction, English and Maths, which I was told I needed.  I started all three of them, but found it difficult to do them all at once.  I was advised to concentrate on one and the others would be held.

So, I decided on constructions with my tutor.  I found the course very helpful and my tutor was there when I needed help.  I worked one day a week at an architect, so I was understanding a bit of what was going on there, through the course.  As I got further in the course, my tutor stopped and my new tutor carried on to do their side.  I enjoyed their course as well, but more so of the drawings side.  As I progressed it was starting to get a bit harder towards the business end.  I achieved good grades with them both, and enjoyed their help.  I am now on another course for drawing plans at the moment as I feel this is what I want to do.  Be a draughtsman. My tutor was extremely supportive and understanding with this and appropriate support and guidance was offered when this needed... - Charlotte Middis

Having worked in Social Services in administrative roles for several years, I decided I wanted to take the step to study to become a Social Worker, however, I did not have the grades required or UCAS points needed to be able to apply straight to university. Being a mature student, I was unsure on my options in terms of what I could do to meet the requirements whilst working this around a full-time job.

I had heard of Access to Higher Education courses through friends and colleagues but when looking at options to study these courses at my local colleges, they all required attendance at the college for a minimum of 2 days per week, which was not suitable for me due to full-time employment. I was unable to reduce to part-time due to also living independently and needing my full-time wage to support myself.  I then began searching for distance learning courses and this is when I came across DistanceLearningCentre.com.

My tutor was available to support with queries I had, responded to queries quickly, and my assessments were marked in good time as well. Feedback was always constructive which I found beneficial in terms of helping me to improve and develop in future assignments. Course materials and assessment guidance are very well structured which made learning independently and in my own time much easier to do.

As a student who also suffers with mental health problems including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, and PTSD, I was extremely apprehensive about studying and had concerns regarding whether I would be able to complete this course. Despite always being highly academic, I was concerned that my mental health would affect my performance. My tutor was extremely supportive and understanding with this and appropriate support and guidance was offered when this needed, which enabled me to continue studying and successfully complete my course.

I was supported with my UCAS application, my tutor checked my UCAS personal statement and offered feedback on this, and also provided me with an educational reference. I was successful in interviews for both of my chosen universities and received conditional offers at both. Thanks to DistanceLearningCentre.com and my tutor, I have successfully completed my course in the timeframe that I set for myself, have achieved distinctions in every assignment, and met the requirements for university. I am due to start University to complete my BSC Honours Social Work degree in September 2022 and can now work towards my dream of being a Social Worker. This course has also given me the confidence to start university knowing that I can study independently and have been supported to develop my skills in essay-writing, Harvard referencing, and academic studying.
