Initially I was very nervous to do a distance learning course, as I had been out of education for a few years and had no experience with distance learning - I was unsure as to whether I would be able to stay motivated enough to complete the course. However, I knew this was my only option as I had a very strong desire to go to University but I could not afford to quit my job to gain a qualification to do so, so distance learning was my only choice.
I had a couple of different tutors during my time on the Diploma and they were all incredibly helpful and would always get back to me quickly whenever I was struggling and needed help. A lot of the time it was the tutors' help that kept me motivated enough to complete the assignments. My full time job was very demanding and often left me with little free time however my tutors were always very supportive.
While I struggled with juggling both my job and my studies, I was able to successfully complete with the Distinctions and Merits that I needed to get into University. I am very grateful to DistanceLearningCentre.com and my tutors, as with their help, I am now able to go to my University of choice and change my future! (Jun 2017)

DistanceLearningCentre.com made what seemed impossible, my reality. After 17 years as a Dental Technician, I desired change and had always dreamt of one day becoming a Paramedic.
After researching a route into the profession, securing a place in University seemed an impossible task. With less than desirable GCSE results and a fulltime access course being the standard route, for mature students, I was at a dead end. I needed to be able to continue with my full time job to pay the bills!
Searching for an alternative solution I found DistanceLearningCentre.com. The Hall of Fame anecdotes and 'what students say' reignited my belief. This online platform had it all; it would allow me to study whilst still in full time work and give me the opportunity to continue my journey to achieve my aspiration.
Initially I felt apprehensive navigating my way around the site and questioned my ability to return to education, but after my first phone tutorial I felt instantly reassured. I found all the tutors to be positive and encouraging, they understand how you feel, what you are trying to achieve and how much you want to succeed.
The course wasn't easy; it required good time management, dedication and self-motivation. I found the learning materials clearly written, and an enjoyable, sequential way to learn complicated topics. The recommended reading helped a lot with each assignment and allowed me to delve much deeper into each subject. For times when I felt stuck or didn't quite get something, the online forum was a good tool and the tutors were only an email or phone call away for a nudge in the right direction.
Through the guidance of DistanceLearningCentre.com, I secured a place at my first choice University and am ready to start my first semester as a Student Paramedic. I cannot recommend them enough. Working with has been literally life changing for me. From the start, the support and encouragement I have received from my tutors has enabled me to achieve within a year rather than what I believed would years in the future. I wasn't even intending on applying to Universities this year, but guided through the UCAS process, as part of the Access to Allied Health Professionals course, I have managed to gain a place at my first choice University. Achieving Distinctions in every unit has boosted my confidence and enabled me to take the next step towards my dream career.
I wasn't sure how I'd cope with the demands of the Diploma; I work full time as a Midwifery Care Assistant, doing 12.5 hour shifts, days and nights and I have 2 children. Due to my children being settled in school, I really couldn't imagine studying anywhere other than the University of Cumbria where I needed Distinctions in every unit studied. This was a very daunting prospect but I managed to pull myself together into a well-organized student, worker and mother. Through determination, organisation, continuous support from tutors, I achieved the required grades, and better still earned a place at the University of Cumbria to study Midwifery. In my day to day life, I'm a full time mum to my 2 year old daughter with a part time job at a local coffee shop. When I enrolled onto my Diploma I was terrified and when my tutor gave me my first assignment I can honestly say I thought I had made such a mistake, as I hadn't looked at a unit of biology or study skills since before leaving school many years ago.
Before I knew it, it all became second nature to balance family life, work and study time. By doing this, it gave me a thrill having time for me not just as 'mum' but being Jenny again too. I found because I actually wanted to learn, I had a drive to research my units in more detail than I would have considered at school level, or even at college.
DistanceLearningCentre.com has given me an insight to what to expect at University level, I can now demonstrate at interviews how I am capable of being organised and dedicated to my chosen role as a Midwife. Although I applied for September 2018, The University of Manchester have already offered me an interview. I have always dreamed about becoming a Marine Biologist, however due to lacking motivation and suffering from depression, I wasted numerous opportunities gifted to me during my teenage years. As a result, I moved from one unsatisfying job to another, feeling empty without ever understanding why. I only began to appreciate why I felt this way 6 years after having left full time education.
Having worked as a Police Officer for a few years, I decided to finally turn my dreams into reality and applied to DistanceLearningCentre.com to complete an Access to Science course with the long term goal being to study Marine Biology at University in September 2017.
Initially the course was tough and very daunting however anything worth doing in life will be a test of your character and resilience, making you question, at times, how much you really want it. Through a combination of determination, hard work and amazing support from my tutor I am well on my way to achieving my dreams.
Half way through the course my mum became very unwell. This had a huge impact on me and left me feeling as though I would not be able to finish. However my tutor was incredibly supportive, giving me encouragement and all the time I required to finish an assignment by granting extensions when needed. Without my tutors support I am unsure that I would have completed the course or achieved such high grades.
It can be hard to see the benefits of sacrifices you have to make to do well when you first start, due to being nervous and lacking belief in yourself. However the fruits of your labour will pay off without a shadow of a doubt and you will soon be at ease and comfortable with the workload.
Completing this course is one of my best achievements to-date and I am eternally grateful to DistanceLearningCentre.com for giving me the opportunity to follow a path I never believed would be achievable. I didn't believe, before I started, that I would be good enough however the support of my tutor helped me to believe it was possible. Having completed the course I am due to start at my preferred University in September. My tutor and Student Services helped immeasurably with my UCAS application, making sure that everything that was required was included, as well as a reference which helped me secure offers from all of my five university choices.
