I would definitely recommend doing this course - Lauren Quaile
When starting the Access to Higher Education Primary Teaching course I was not 100% sure where I wanted to go in life as I am only 19. However my dream job has always been to become a primary school teacher so I took a jump into the deep end and went ahead with this course.
I had amazing support from both of my tutors and can't thank them enough, along with my family. This course has really changed my life and made me see exactly what I need to do to achieve my goals.
I am now hoping to head off to university next year and complete a primary teaching degree. Once again a massive thank you to both my tutors and this only shows that with determination and hard work anything can be achieved. I would definitely recommend doing this course. (Jun 15)
Flexible, challenging, rewarding, set to a high standard - Shayn Mepham
Flexible, challenging, rewarding, set to a high standard. This Is how I would describe my experience with DistanceLearningCentre.com.
After I found out that I did not have the right qualifications to go to University, I was caught at a cross roads. Do I change my goal and not go to University or do I bite the bullet and start working part time earning half the wage?
I got in touch with the University and was advised to look up DistanceLearningCentre.com. I was over the moon when I realised that there was an alternative way; a way that was flexible, that meets University requirements to a high standard and a way that meant that I did not have to give up my full time job.
Completing the course via distance learning requires commitment and self-discipline, and at times I found that my lack of motivation and self-discipline was a lot harder to deal with then the actual course work itself. But it's safe to say that my Tutor was always there to give me support and constructive feedback, helping me get back on track.
Completing the course via distance learning has taught me more than just the academic side of things. During the journey I've also developed key skills which will be beneficial for many more years to come and I'm pleased to say that I have finally completed the course and have secured a place at a University, starting in January 2016. Having not obtained any A levels I never thought that university was an option for me - Lee Ashton
After leaving behind England and my career as an electrician to support my partner in her quest to gain more experience in her field of work I found myself teaching English as a second language in Cambodia. It wasn't long after that I discovered my passion for teaching.
I had left school at 16 and went on to qualify as an electrician. Having not obtained any A levels I never thought that university was an option for me. After discussing many possibilities and life paths with my partner, I wished that I had studied to become a teacher when I was a lot younger.
After much research I decided that I would take the plunge and start a course in Primary Education through DistanceLearningCentre.com. Although daunting at first, it was the best decision I ever made, as I now have the relevant qualifications to pursue a degree in Primary Education, and have been accepted into my first choice of university. I could not have done this without the help and guidance that I received from my tutors who recognised some of the struggles learning online from Asia. I was teaching for 50 hours per week and squeezing in as much study as I could after work and at the weekends. They helped me to juggle modules around so that it would suit me and nothing was too much trouble for them.
I am now on the path to the career that I really want, which would not have been possible without DistanceLearningCentre.com. I would recommend them to anyone who is working or wants a career change and thinks that they don't have enough time or the skills to study to obtain an additional qualification. The tutors will ensure that they are available as often as possible and will make studying a whole lot easier and more worthwhile than one would think. (Jun 15)
I had offers from all my university choices before I even completed the course - Temitope Eniola
I stumbled across the DistanceLearningCentre.com website while I was looking for an online access course. I enrolled, and the rest is history. I have just completed the access course and am finding it hard to believe. When I started, I had a full time job with 2 young children. Juggling my busy life with studying was the hardest thing I had to do. Honestly, the course is tough but can be done. Motivation, discipline and determination is crucial. What kept me going? My dream of becoming an occupational therapist and encouraging words from friends and family. This quote helped me get through those frustrating days: "NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAM JUST BECAUSE OF THE TIME IT WILL TAKE TO ACCOMPLISH IT. THE TIME WILL PASS ANYWAY!"
I had offers from all my university choices before I even completed the course. I would like to say a big thank you to my tutors; you were brilliant and so supportive. I can't say thank you enough. Choosing DistanceLearningCentre.com was the best decision ever. The tutors and staff are so helpful. Most importantly, it is affordable. I paid in instalments which made life a lot easier for me.
Don't give up on your dream. You can do it too!!!! (Jun 15)
Fuelled my desire to train and learning independently has given me a great sense of accomplishment - Louise Rich
Fab5 Award Nominee
I enjoyed science GCSEs at school but chose humanity based A-levels and a degree before embarking on 15 years work as a project manager within the media, marketing and communication industries. An Achilles rupture in 2013 and subsequent time working closely with physiotherapists as part of my rehabilitation the driver to re-train to become a physiotherapist myself. When researching university entry requirements I found that I would need to complete an Access course and with a new full time job as a Therapy Assistant at my local hospital, a husband, two boys and eight months to do it in it was clear that only independent learning would offer the flexibility and pace that I needed.
The Allied Health Professions course fuelled my desire to train and learning independently has given me a great sense of accomplishment. It has been incredibly hard work ? I set out aiming for 45 Level 3 distinctions and have achieved this. I knew the timeframes would be challenging but tight scheduling and time management has kept me focused on the goal. Be under no illusion you definitely need to be determined, unafraid of lots of reading around the topic and above all else committed.
The DistanceLearningCentre.com materials are really detailed, written very clearly and concisely and the tutors have been on hand with to help with any queries. I am sure that this independent learning had a lot to do with being offered places at both the universities I applied to to study a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy starting in September 2015. (Jun 15)
