The most cost effective way of fulfilling my desire to attend university - Yandek Richards
After having my own children and volunteering at their school, I realized my jobs in the past were insignificant compared to helping children. I decided then that I would love to dedicate my life to become a child nurse. I completed my degree which is BTEC Diploma equivalent over 20 years ago from Indonesia. As could guess, I have had to gain my GCSE equivalents in Math and English as well as an Access course to Nursing before any university would even consider taking me on the course.
As a full-time mum of two young children, and volunteer worker at school and hospital, I decided to explore the possibility of studying online, as this was the most cost effective way of fulfilling my desire to attend university. I was able to study at my own pace but at the same time I could look after my children. I found out about DistanceLearningCentre.com by searching online. The structure of the course was easy to follow and the tutors were very supportive and amazing to work with.
I have just completed my course for June 2015 moderation, which is such a relief and an achievement I am so proud of. I am so excited as I have been offered a place at Middlesex University in their Child Nursing course for September 2015. My dream of becoming a child nurse is well on track, thanks to DistanceLearningCentre.com and the tutors. (Jun 15)
My chosen university recommended them in order to attain the entry requirements - Michael Francis
Fab5 Award Nominee
My chosen University Birmingham City recommended DistanceLearningCentre.com in order to attain the entry requirements to enrol on the undergraduate Mental Health Nursing Degree (Bsc). I enrolled on the Access to HE Diploma (Nursing, Midwifery and Health Professions) course with the aim of getting a place at university for September 2015. Managing a full time job with the demands of the course was a challenge whilst also being a father to two young children with a third on the way but nonetheless when you want something bad enough you will always find a way to get through challenges. I cracked on with the assignments and attained Merit Distinction profiles throughout the course which have boosted my confidence and I believe I am now in a good place to undertake a degree level course. My beautiful daughter was born half way through the course which undoubtedly was more important to me than any studying, so I took four weeks off whilst enjoying paternity leave, and planned to get back on with my studies when I returned to work. Unfortunately my youngest son was diagnosed with a brain disorder; Chiari Malformation, which as any parent would imagine left me and my partner devastated.
I struggled to motivate myself in day to day life yet alone studying. I questioned myself on whether I wanted to go ahead and study, being away from my family and doing placements with lots of anti-social working hours. I fell behind on my ILP and extension requests became somewhat regular. I knew I had to be strong for my son and I wanted him to be proud of me and set the right example in not letting adversity derail me in life. How could I reassure my son in his life to deal with his condition which was chronic, to overcome the challenges he would face if I was unable to do this myself? I had applied for a place at Birmingham City University for which I attained a conditional place for September 2015.
I got back on track with my studies and am proud to say that all grades were maintained at Distinction and Merit profiles throughout. I look forward to acquiring more knowledge and becoming the best Nurse I can be. My aim is to go into the Neuropsychiatry field in the future and understand more about brain disorders within psychiatry.
DistanceLearningCentre.com as a whole has allowed me to reach the next level in my professional development and the structure of the course, tutor support and material were all fantastic and I can appreciate the amount of work that goes in to maintain this level of education without actually physically entering a classroom.
There will be times when you come across difficult circumstances throughout life and it's so important to find your motivation and inspiration from the things you love and care for. (Jun 15)
My tutor put me at ease straight away and it was soon clear that this was different to the other courses I had tried - Carly Stratton
I always wanted to return to education since leaving college 18 years ago but never quite managed it before, despite attempting several other home study courses over the years. The courses I signed up for always lacked tutor support and encouragement, and without this my interest disappeared and I gave up every time.
When I started looking into Access courses I researched the ones offered by my local college, but their study schedule meant I would have had to give up work. With four young children to support this was just not possible.
Then I found DistanceLearningCentre.com. The course looked perfect for me but I had my reservations due to my bad track record with home studying. My tutor put me at ease straight away and it was soon clear that this was different to the other courses I had tried. The level of tutor support was fantastic and the continual feedback was a huge motivator. I'm not going to lie, it was hard work studying whilst working and looking after my family but my tutors kept me motivated, and now I've completed it I can honestly say it's the best thing I've ever done!
I'm so excited for the future, I now have a place on a Film Studies course at my first choice university to start in September and I have learnt so many valuable study skills that will be indispensible. I'd like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to DistanceLearningCentre.com and all the fantastic tutors, you have literally changed my life! (Jun 15)
My education had been greatly disrupted, I didn't have the qualifications I needed for university - Erin Puttock
Before enrolling with DistanceLearningCentre.com, I had been recently discharged from one of many hospital admissions. Consequently, my education had been greatly disrupted and, unable to complete A-levels, I didn't have the qualifications I needed for university.
I knew I wanted to study psychology, and after some research on Distance Learning, DistanceLearningCentre.com ticked every box. I enrolled on the Access to Social Sciences diploma and it is the best decision I could have made. The tutors were incredibly supportive, and I was able to work at a pace which worked for me. Now, seven months later, I am looking towards starting a four year psychology degree at the University of Bath. This wouldn't have been possible had I not studied with DistanceLearningCentre.com, and I wouldn't think twice to recommend them to anyone. (Jun 15)
Doors have now been opened for me that nobody can shut - Una Ncube
Fab5 Award Nominee
For a while it was touch and go on whether or not I would finish in time for moderation. I had the most excellent and patient tutors and I finished just in the nick of time.
This course requires a lot of dedication and commitment, so be prepared to work hard! The wonderful thing is that, a lot of the time, the tutors are just an e-mail or a phone call away. I realised during the course that this level of support is extremely beneficial. I am so grateful for my wonderful tutors. The course materials are also clear and an enjoyable read (in my humble opinion).
Additionally, students receive detailed guidance on applying to university through UCAS and the tutors also provide references. What a weight off our shoulders! I cannot thank DistanceLearningCentre.com enough for supporting me through my studies. Please go for it, if it is right for you, because you can only gain. Doors have now been opened for me that nobody can shut and I have been offered a place at an excellent university. God bless you guys! (Jun 15)
