I am now a NHS NQP Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist, working in Acute Medicine - Christine Gregson

Now

After my Diploma studies, I went on to successfully complete a MSc in Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Reading, achieving First Class Honours. The biggest challenges that I faced during my undergraduate studies included balancing study and home life, learning independently during the Covid pandemic, with reduced contact with lecturers and peers, as well as work placement disruptions.

It was also difficult to learn a diverse skill set and master new subjects, in addition to translating theory into clinical skills. I am now a NHS NQP Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist, working in Acute Medicine. There is never a dull moment as my role requires constant development and reflection, which is extremely meaningful, when you've made a difference to a patient. Studying as a mature student and balancing family responsibilities is challenging, but doable and ultimately immensely rewarding- give it a go! (Nov 2021)

It was with much trepidation that I enrolled with DistanceLearningCentre.com to complete an Access course in Allied Healthcare. As a mature student, who left formal education 30 years ago and having only experienced classroom tutoring, I was sceptical about my abilities to adjust to distance learning.

From day one I was warmly welcomed by my tutor and the 'distance' element dissolved. I was given timely and relevant support to coax me through each assignment where I quickly gained independence, confidence and developed my academic abilities from the advice. Both my biology and psychology tutors proved the competency of DistanceLearningCentre.com with their excellent calibre of tutoring and mentoring.

Distance learning allows you to fit studying around work and family and also to learn at your own pace, which really helped. I would advocate DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone considering further education.

At school I was an average student so thought my attempt to achieve the 40 distinctions required to gain a place on the Speech and Language BSc whilst commencing a new job and juggling family commitments was just a dream. I nearly never started but knew I would regret not trying. With the mantra of 'take each day and do your best' I began my learning journey.

I am still pinching myself that I have now completed the course with the required grades and have an offer from my preferred university. I couldn't have done it without the support of my family, friends and the amazing tutors. I've learnt you are never too old to follow your dreams and, with hard work and a positive attitude, you can make the impossible happen. Don't let anyone, above all yourself, say you can't do it! I would seriously tell anybody considering a career in healthcare to undertake your Access Course - it is the best foundation for undergraduate study! - Sally Wilkinson

Now

I am now a final year adult Nursing student at Sheffield Hallam University. It has obviously been challenging as the covid pandemic happened in my first year, however this has provided me with invaluable experiences which I will carry throughout my career.

The course I did with the DistanceLearningCentre.com was essential in setting me up with relevant knowledge in Anatomy and Physiology, along with academic writing skills. The course was actually very similar the first year of my degree, which was very helpful.

The most useful unit of my Diploma with DistanceLearningCentre.com was Planning a Research Project in Social Issues and Health Care. It even helped me during my second year with a really difficult research assignment!

The highlights from my nursing placements have actually been working within the community, where I intend to work when I qualify. Working with people in their own homes is very rewarding and offers flexible working patterns for people like myself with a young family. I qualify as a nurse in 2022, which of course would not have been possible had I not done the course with DistanceLearningCentre.com. I would seriously tell anybody considering a career in healthcare to undertake your Access Course - it is the best foundation for undergraduate study! (Nov 2021)

Then

After having my son 2 years ago, I got used to the idea of a career in nursing being a bit of a fantasy. Although I'd worked in healthcare for 7 years, I still required the academic grades to be able to secure a place at university. This is when I discovered DistanceLearningCentre.com!

I was sceptical at first, however after research I realised the access course is fully accredited and recognised by universities. I even completed a Maths Progression Award which was also accepted by my university choice.

It was testing at times, however just know that if you have the interest and motivation to achieve, you will! I completed the access course within 6 months, studying every night. It was intense but it just goes to show that you can!

I have now been accepted in to the university of my choice and will begin my studies in to adult nursing this coming September. I never thought it would happen to me, thanks to DistanceLearningCentre.com I have been able to realise my dream. (Jul 2019)

DistanceLearningCentre.com taught me the fundamental skills of writing an essay and how to structure them - Jennifer Perrin

Now

I now attend Liverpool John Moore's university, studying Midwifery and I'm in my 3rd year. I find my biggest challenge even now, is to remind myself to get confident with basic knowledge first, and to brush up on some light reading in between shifts to maintain my knowledge. And to always go back to basics when writing essays.

Studying my Diploma with DistanceLearningCentre.com gave me a fabulous baseline of Anatomy and Physiology and taught me the fundamental skills of writing an essay and how to structure them. I am looking forward to starting my career as a qualified Midwife once I have completed this final year of study. (Nov 2021)

Then

In my day to day life, I'm a full time mum to my 2 year old daughter with a part time job at a local coffee shop. When I enrolled onto my Diploma I was terrified and when my tutor gave me my first assignment I can honestly say I thought I had made such a mistake, as I hadn't looked at a unit of biology or study skills since before leaving school many years ago.

Before I knew it, it all became second nature to balance family life, work and study time. By doing this, it gave me a thrill having time for me not just as 'mum' but being Jenny again too. I found because I actually wanted to learn, I had a drive to research my units in more detail than I would have considered at school level, or even at college.

DistanceLearningCentre.com has given me an insight to what to expect at University level, I can now demonstrate at interviews how I am capable of being organised and dedicated to my chosen role as a Midwife. Although I applied for September 2018, The University of Manchester have already offered me an interview. Having DistanceLearningCentre.com on my applications has most definitely strengthened my application and I personally feel it makes me stand out from other applicants. I would recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com without hesitation. Worth every single penny and every ounce of hard work you are willing to put in. (Jun 2017)

I would warmly advise Distancelearningcentre.com to students who have had gaps in education - Sarmite Silina

Now

Since completing my Diploma with DistanceLearningCentre.com, I successfully obtained a place to study Adult Nursing at Salford University and I am now in my final year. The biggest challenge was coping with a health problem. I broke my wrist on the dominant hand in the first year of my studies, but I managed to get through by using a voice recorder to get the assessments done. Then in the year when this COVID pandemic started, I was taken off the placement, which I was excited to practice.

I found my studies exciting anyway and I am looking forward to graduating in September. I think that I would not have been able to progress with my studies successfully if I had not taken the Science Diploma with DistanceLearningcentre.com. I found it useful because I did not know how to write essays correctly, but I learned it along the way. At the university this can save your time, as you already have developed the skill. I would warmly advise Distancelearningcentre, com to students who have had gaps in education. (Nov 2021)

Then

I found DistanceLearningCentre.com online when I was looking for the opportunity to find the access course to the higher education. I wanted to get qualified in the sphere I enjoyed working. They offered a comfortable way of learning in my free time so I got to know the ways, intensity and scope of the learning in a process which was very different from my studies in my own language.

I want to say great thanks to my tutor who always had the advice and explanation at the right time and place. I consider him the best ever tutor in my whole life education experience. I cried with every re-submission, but I gained confidence in what I did and gained successfully an offer to join the university course.

I want to thank the administration staff for always giving quick answers on my questions and problems solved at the right time. I highly value the standards at which the centre works and warmly recommend it to those who are eager to learn and reach their goals. (Nov 2018)

I think my advice to other students thinking about re-training or furthering their studies is to just take the plunge and do it! - Helen Scott

Now

I'm at Greenwich University in the final year of my Midwifery degree.

I think the biggest challenge to studying is balance amity life, with hospital placement and academic work. The DistanceLearningCentre.com definitely helped with getting me back into studying and I was able to fit it around family life quite comfortably. I think my advice to other students thinking about re-training or furthering their studies is to just take the plunge and do it! (Nov 2021)

The most rewarding thing about studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com is that I now feel confident to take up my place at University and study for a career I have wanted to train in for years.

I hadn't been in education for ten years and this was the first distance learning course I had attempted and I was worried about feeling on my own but I needn't have worried! The tutors have been a huge support and have always been available for all my questions; their care and commitment to my success has given me confidence.

The pace and intensity of the study built up gradually and enabled me to get back into the way of studying and writing assignments. I had to fit my studies around family life and with two small boys to look after, I learned how to manage my time so that I could meet my targets, this is a skill I will take with me to University. My tutors were with me throughout the UCAS application and with their support, I was offered both my first and second choice places to study Midwifery.

If you had told me just over a year ago that I would be ordering my student midwife's uniform, I don't think I would have believed you, it seemed such an impossible goal to reach, but gradually, one step at a time, and with a lot of help that is exactly what I have just done. (Jun 2017)
