Going back to school after leaving at 16 was tough, but it turned out to be incredibly rewarding. Going to university to study for my dream job had always been something that I wanted to do. However, self-doubt and lacking confidence meant that this had always been put on a back burner. After not doing as well as I had hoped to in my A-Levels, I had thought this meant that pursuing my dream job was now out of reach.
Watching my daughter growing up had me picturing her future and the life I wanted for her. I want her to always follow her dreams and to never give up. This sparked a newfound passion in me to continue my studies.
After looking at many different online learning platforms, I came across DistanceLearningCentre.com; straight away they stood out to me. I enrolled on an Access to HE Diploma for Nursing and Midwifery, and as soon as I began my studies, I realised I had made the right choice. My tutors were amazing and the confidence they had in me soon translated into a new confidence I found within myself. They motivated, encouraged and guided me every step of the way and I knew continuing my studies was possible with the support of them behind me.
DistanceLearningCentre.com was perfect for me as it allowed me to balance my family life, working full time and pursuing my studies. I enrolled in January 2024 with a limited time to complete my course as I had already begun my UCAS application for the following September. My tutors were realistic and explained that this would be tough however, supported me every step of the way in working to this very tight 5-month deadline for the June 2024 moderation. This reassurance was everything I needed to successfully complete my diploma. Having been out of education for nearly 7 years, the weekly tutorial calls I had with my tutors were invaluable and the questions I had were always responded to so quickly via email, making it so easy to balance my home life and with the transition of returning to education.
As I began submitting assignments and seeing distinction grades coming back to me, I realised that I was far more capable than I had previously allowed myself to believe. My motivation, perseverance and confidence was restored. I have now completed my course with the grades needed for my chosen degree and a conditional place at university.
