I would highly recommend the Access to Midwifery Diploma - Madeleine Taggart

Image of Madeleine Taggart

I originally studied A levels at high school in the Isle of Man with the ambition to become a midwife however I missed out on my university place for midwifery due to my A level biology grade. This set back made me even more motivated and determined, so I signed up to complete the Access to Midwifery course with DistanceLearningCentre.com.

Having the background knowledge from my A level studies helped me throughout my course and this year I've received offers for midwifery courses at all 5 universities I applied to across the UK. I have now met the requirements for my top choice, The University of Surrey, to study Midwifery: Registered Midwife BSc (Hons) starting in September 2017.

I would highly recommend the Access to Midwifery course as I believe it has not only allowed me to meet the requirements to get onto a course, but it has also given me a good background knowledge on specific midwifery topics such as anatomy and physiology as well as safeguarding aspects which you otherwise might not learn before starting university. From the beginning I have been fully supported by both of my tutors - Kate Keep

Fab5 Award Nominee

I decided to study with DistanceLearningCentre.com last year after having spoken to the admissions tutors at the university I was hoping to apply to. They recommended an Access to Health Care course, given that I had not been in formal education for over 12 years, so I chose DistanceLearningCentre.com because the course outline looked particularly interesting, the past testimonials were very positive and the monthly payments were affordable.

From the beginning I have been fully supported by my tutors. The resources, weekly emails and tutorials have kept me on track with my learning. They have been wonderful when I have had the odd wobble here and there and were always happy to advise me on the assessments that I have found difficult and also advise me on my UCAS application when applying to university. I would recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone who is thinking of studying from home.

If someone had said to me 12 months ago that I would be able to find time to study and apply for university whilst working and looking after my three children I would not have believed them. It has been extremely difficult at times, fitting in much of my studying in the evenings after the children have gone to bed. However, focusing on the thought of getting a place on a midwifery course has kept me going and the feeling of finishing and submitting a piece of work, that I have put all my efforts into, is wonderful.

I was so nervous starting the course, it had been a long time since I had written an essay and even longer since I had studied biology (having been terrible at it in school) however, I loved it the second time round! I think that anyone who doubts their capabilities to study a subject that they have found difficult in the past should go for it, every submitted assessment is an accomplishment and you might surprise yourself with what you can achieve. So grateful to DistanceLearningCentre.com for helping me to realise my dream - Kerry Bissell

Before (and during) the course I was working as an office manager. My dream has been, for a long time, to become a paramedic, but having small children and not quite achieving the grades required many years ago meant that the dream was put on hold.

As my children grew I knew that I'd have a little more time and so enrolled on the Access to Paramedicine course. The modules were all so interesting, specific and very enjoyable. Support received from the tutors was fantastic!

I've now achieved the grades required and been offered a place to study on the DipHE Paramedic Practice course. I'm still in shock?but so grateful to DistanceLearningCentre.com for helping me to realise my dream. (Jun 2017)

This course was only possible for me due to the affordable monthly payments - Angelika Bobryk

DistanceLearningCentre.com has given me the opportunity to change my life and make my dream come true.

I started my Diploma in 2016 in order to meet University entry requirements to apply for a dental hygiene and therapy course. At the beginning I was very stressed; like most people I had doubts about my capabilities of completing the course. I remember reading The Fab 5 Awards winners' statements and this gave me hope and reassurance that I would be able to make it also! I would like to say thank you to all of them and I hope that my statement will encourage others to start and make their dreams come true!

During my studies I have received a great amount of support from all my tutors; they were always there for me and only an email/phone call away. At DistanceLearningCentre.com I considered the tutors my friends as they always did their best to help and support me, making studying as pleasant, fun and stress free as possible.

During the first six months I worked full time and I had been completing my apprenticeship in dental nursing with Eastleigh College. This meant completing my work and passing exams for my dental nursing course, whilst working full time and completing my assessments for my Diploma on time. This Diploma was only possible for me due to the affordable monthly payments.

I have completed my Diploma with Distinctions in all graded units and currently have a conditional offer from Plymouth University to start dental hygiene and therapy! With English being my second language I really struggled with reading materials, I had to learn many new words and I spent lots of time checking my assessments, grammar and spelling. The Diploma has allowed me to vastly improve my English and I am now set to start University in September. I would recommend this course to everyone! (Jun 2017)

My tutor was always very positive which was great motivation - Seth Agyare

When I was discharged from the Army, due to injury, I started a new job and had to work a 5-on 3-off rota night shift. After doing this for a while, I realised this wasn't the dream and to chase my dream and passion I needed to go back to education. It was recommended, by a colleague, to study with DistanceLearningCentre.com and I enrolled to start my Diploma in Oct. 2016.

I was very lucky, in my opinion, to have one of the best tutors; he acted as my tutor, friend, a father figure and a motivator throughout my studies. He was always there when needed, ready to help and has always said to me ''Seth, you are on the right path and you are doing really well'' whenever I felt I couldn't complete the modules on time for the June moderation.

It was hectic and challenging juggling a full time job on night shifts, coming home to baby-sit so my wife could attend her college classes and meeting deadlines on my assignments. There were periods when I felt like giving up but my tutor was always very positive which was great motivation.

I was lucky to get a conditional offer from my chosen University and the demands of the condition became my new target for the Diploma. With new goals and strategies in studies, I was able to proceed gradually with each module with the will and determination to carry on. I achieved all my targets exactly as planned and am now getting ready to start at University this September. (Jun 2017)
