To be able to progress within the ambulance service I needed to obtain the correct qualifications - Lee Carr
Prior to starting my studies with DistanceLearningCentre.com I was working as a frontline ambulance support worker for an NHS foundation trust. To be able to progress within the ambulance service to the role of paramedic and having left secondary education with no A*-C GCSE grades I needed to obtain the correct qualifications to allow me onto a university degree.
I found DistanceLearningCentre.com and applied to study the Access to HE Paramedicine Diploma. I needed to achieve a full 60 credit diploma and they offered this diploma as distance learning which was important to me with 2 young children and continuing to work full time for the ambulance service.
The tutors have been fantastic from start to finish with the support offered and made the diploma achievable even for those like myself who work full time and have a family to maintain. I never thought I could achieve a qualification that would match me to the criteria required to study a Bsc in paramedic science at St George's university of London allowing me to follow my childhood dream; but the DistanceLearningCentre.com have made this possible!
Through hard work and determination (and it wasn't a walk in the park) I've done it and I can't thank DistanceLearningCentre.com enough! From no GCSE's to a higher education diploma allowing me to study a degree proves anyone can do it with the right amount of determination. Thank you so much! (Jun 16)
Very helpful when I was applying to universities and even helped with my UCAS application - Charlie Parsley
I started my online Access to Science course in order to pursue my dream of becoming a vet. With no science A levels and an unrelated SA hons degree, I needed some science qualifications to be able to apply to university. DistanceLearningCentre.com were very helpful when I was applying to universities and even helped with my UCAS application. Without them it would have been much harder to apply.
I completed the science access course in just under 9 months. I would recommend giving yourself 12 months as I was very pushed for time but with hard work and determination anything is possible! The course is hard, there is no doubt about that. You really need to be motivated and switched on from the word go, but my tutors were supportive and good at providing answers to any questions I had.
I now have a conditional place to study Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College in London. It really is a dream come true! I am now well on the way to fulfilling my dream of becoming a veterinary surgeon and this would not have been possible without DistanceLearningCentre.com. A big thank you to all of the great tutors and staff that have helped me along the way. If you are thinking of changing career or need some more qualifications to pursue your dream job. DistanceLearningCentre.com is the place for you! (Jun 16)
The self-confidence and belief they gave me, has opened more doors than I dreamed possible - Felicity Jemmett
Fab5 Award Nominee
The prospect of studying from home was initially daunting, especially as I hadn't studied anything science related for 10 years or so and it was a completely different style of learning compared to what I had been used to. However the course, with the support and reassurance from my tutors, and the self-confidence and belief they gave me, has opened more doors than I dreamed possible.
I had previously had bad experiences with courses that did not fulfil the requirements I needed for my chosen career path despite being told to the contrary, and therefore was slightly apprehensive when I first enquired about DistanceLearningCentre.com. My experience has, however, been a truly positive one, which I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.
I have faced many challenges in my life; from the sudden bereavement of my mum when I was 19, to other personal problems, yet I have always strived to overcome these challenges and achieve the most I can. I believe it is these obstacles that develop an individual and make them stronger and that, although everyone has their own challenges, I believe that I have been through more than most, yet I will not let this deter me.
This would not have been possible without the focus and support DistanceLearningCentre.com provided me. I would like to thank all the help I have had for helping me through these tough times and reinstating my self belief and self worth. (Jun 16)
The flexibility enabled me to juggle my busy life with shift work, family and studying - Shingie Masango
It has been always my dream to pursue studying in nursing (Mental health) after caring for a close family member. But the stumbling block was I didn't have enough qualification to go to university. I came across DistanceLearningCentre.com on-line and the rest is history. The flexibility of the programme enabled me to juggle my busy life with shift work, family and studying. It was not an easy road in term of assignments but the tutors were so amazing with their positive attitude, support and help which was second to none and I have improved myself academically and my personal skills, ready for the university.
The modules are well-developed and structured which I personally found very understandable. Of course, there were challenges but with the help of the tutorial calls every week I managed to complete my diploma. I got three offers from the universities I applied to ... really pleased with myself. I'm starting a degree in September 2016. I would recommend anyone who wants to fulfil their dreams to enrol with DistanceLearningCentre.com. (Jun 16)
Everything was clearly spelt out in the course materials ... easy-to-read ... step-by-step format - Sue Vecchione
Fab5 Award Nominee
My experience studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com was an experience I undertook with such ease and unexpected flexibility. Having not studied for 30 years, I was completely out of practice with learning and had never undertaken distance learning before, so was initially very sceptical as to whether I would achieve the grades required by University. However, all fears were instantly put aside.
The tutors were incredibly helpful and patient with me. They understood I had 'life' pressures and accommodated my submissions around them. They explained work extremely clearly to me, regularly going 'the extra mile'. I couldn't have asked for better. I had very little free time to study, but all tutor phone calls and homeworks were set around my rare free time.
DistanceLearningCentre.com resources were the best I have ever seen before. Everything was clearly spelt out in the notes they offered which were in an easy-to-read, step-by-step format, making them easy to absorb, including while out and about while I was trying to multi-task with life tasks.
I found out after I had started that university required me to take an additional GCSE, which I had to squeeze in to my Access course study-time. My Psychology tutor was extremely helpful when this time came and allowed me to put Psychology on hold for a few weeks while I studied English as I found it difficult juggling the two subjects together.
Another pleasant surprise I had with DistanceLearningCentre.com is that as well as help with my studies, my tutor spent hours helping me apply to UCAS and wrote them a very detailed reference, overall having spent hours on the phone to me helping me either discussing studies or my UCAS application.
All in all, with an extremely busy personal/work life, I could never have achieved the Distinctions throughout my Access course, not to mention my A* in English Language iGCSE if it wasn't for the dedicated tutors, excellent resources and the flexibility that DistanceLearningCentre.com offers.
