After being out of education for some time I had mixed feelings of excitement and apprehension when I decided to study with DistanceLearningCentre.com, especially considering I was new to distance learning. Before I started this course I was cabin crew for Thomson Airways going to destinations all over the world. After many years of travelling overseas I decided to place my feet firmly on the ground and pursue my other passion in life, and that is to become a midwife.
I completed the DistanceLearningCentre.com Access to Higher Education Diploma in Allied Health Professions course. It was a brilliant course, really interesting, covering a wide range of topics. I left school five years ago after completing my A levels and went on to have a number of jobs that I really didn't enjoy. I knew for years that I wanted to become a midwife but never got round to applying to universities. I finally decided to go for it but then realised that I didn't have enough UCAS points.
This is when I found DistanceLearningCentre.com, I liked the sound of distance learning so I could carry on working so I applied for the Access to Midwifery Diploma. I am so glad I chose them, their tutors are fantastic and were very supportive and the forum was amazing, it helped me out when I found things hard. It is not easy to stay motivated but if you can keep pushing till the end it is well worth it. Unfortunately I was unsuccessful when applying to university but I am confident I will do better when I apply again this year.

I had never wanted to work in an office so after 20+ years I decided to pursue the career I had always wanted. Due to family commitments I was unable attend college so I started my research into online providers. I left school at 16, lacking confidence in myself academically and therefore I decided not to continue into further education. Over 10 years later I finally found the confidence to pursue a career in teaching but with only GCSEs under my belt this dream was still a long way from becoming a reality.
