Several years ago I looked into training as a midwife but was told that I did not hold the relevant qualifications. I was disappointed but put it behind me for a few years whilst continuing working in jobs that paid the bills but did not fulfil me.

It was after the birth of my daughter and becoming a single parent that my longing for a career in midwifery was reignited. I was determined to find a way of getting onto a midwifery degree and DistanceLearningCentre.com was the answer! From the start, the tutors and staff at DistanceLearningCentre.com have been so supportive and understanding, in particular with recognising the juggling act of studying and family life.

The course requires self discipline but is a great skill to develop now before starting university. I was worried how I would cope with the workload after being out of education for many years but was so surprised every time my assignments came back with good grades and positive feedback! Each time it happened my confidence grew and I am over the moon to have gained a place on a midwifery degree for September!

I would recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to anyone, this is your opportunity for a new start, take it!! (Jun 15)

I left the Armed Forces after 10 years of service and found I wanted a new career in health professions. I had no qualifications and my GCSE's weren't great. I found DistanceLearningCentre.com online and decided to have a look. It was the best choice I have ever made.

I started the Access to HE Diploma in Health Professions in June 2014. I have two young children and a full time job; at times I did struggle and worry that I wouldn't get my assessments in on time. But the tutors are fantastic and will encourage you all the way. I had to complete my studies while living in Germany as a part of the British Forces and the tutors were brilliant with me, arranging Skype calls to save me money and because of this I am very grateful.

I expected just to pass the course but I enjoyed the subjects and I become confident in myself and I finished my course in June 2015 with merits and distinctions, which I was over the moon with. This is a challenging course and with hard work it can be accomplished and I would recommend it to anyone.

I have been accepted at Stafford University for September 2015's intake. I feel that DistanceLearningCentre.com has prepared me for my future studying and would just like to say THANK YOU!! (Jun 15)

Before the course I was working full time as an Auxiliary Nurse, I learned I wanted to progress my studies, attend university and become a registered nurse. It was through a friend at work I heard about DistanceLearningCentre.com and began to enquire about taking part in the course.

This past year has been tough but that is mainly through managing a full time job, night school to obtain a maths GCSE, running a home, paying a mortgage & completing this access course. It was my decision to have all of these things going on at the same time and now I have finished.

If I had to do it again perhaps I would do things differently so I could focus on my studies, but I have now completed the access course, more importantly to a level which I am happy with (a little surprised too because I didn't know I had it in me) and I feel great about it. I feel I have been supported throughout and am proud of myself for what I have achieved. DistanceLearningCentre.com tutors have been very helpful and supportive and offered me any advice and help I have needed along the way. (Jun 15)

I am so thankful as they have truly helped me to change my life - Sophie Reading

I started my access course in May 2013 at the age of 30 having wanted to study nursing since my early twenties. Dong the course via distance learning was challenging alongside full time work but was the only way I could fit it in as I couldn't drop my hours to fit around a regular college course.

In January 2014 my application to university was rejected straightaway with no offer of interview and I decided to finish studying and give up altogether. I couldn't stop thinking about pursuing my dream of nursing and restarted my course in October 2014 and have achieved my 24 distinctions needed to take my place at Coventry to study adult nursing in February 2016.

I couldn't have done it without the help and support of my tutors I am so thankful as they have truly helped me to change my life. (Jun 15)

Always plenty of good advice and people to help motivate you on the forum - Jeannine Hochet

Coming from the small island of Jersey with one College of Further Education which offers a small number of degree course, I found DistanceLearningCentre.com to be an easily accessible way of gaining the qualifications I needed in order to enter Higher Education. I already have a Social Science degree, but as I graduated 10 years ago, I needed to show evidence of more recent study. DistanceLearningCentre.com was recommended to me by a university admissions tutor.

Studying remotely can be difficult, and there were times when I felt like giving up but I knew I had already worked hard and gained pretty good results, so I knew I would be letting myself down if I gave up. There is always plenty of good advice and people to help motivate you on the forum so you are never alone.

Now I have completed my Access course and I'm so proud of my achievement. I applied for a Nursing degree and was offered an interview at the University of Brighton. I have since been offered a place to begin in February 2016, and have accepted a place. Thank you to my tutors and DistanceLearningCentre.com! (Jun 15)
