Being a nursery nurse for a good four to five years I began to feel like I was stuck in a bit of a rut, doing the same thing and being in the same routine everyday. At that point I knew I was ready for something new so I started to look online for jobs I could do with the qualifications that I already had. However, it got to the point where I was only finding jobs, either part time or full time in a nursery and I knew full well I did not want to work in another nursery.
This is when I knew I had to gain other qualifications for me to be able to progress further. I wasn't 100% sure as to what I wanted to do but I knew I still wanted to work with children. So I starting looked at university courses to see what I would need to get on to a course. Eventually I found a course with child studies and psychology and it sounded like something I would like to do. I looked at the requirements needed and saw an access course was one of them.
I looked up college courses at my local college but found that I would either have to give up work altogether or go part time and I knew that wasn't really an option. Online courses was the other option and it was actually my dad who found DistanceLearningCentre.com and before I knew it I was enrolled and started a course in psychology.
I never thought I would ever go to university but thanks to DistanceLearningCentre.com I am able to and I have successfully gained a place at my chosen university. DistanceLearningCentre.com has definitely helped me as I was able to do the work in my own time rather than having to give up my time to go to college. The university course required 45 credits at either merit or distinction for me to gain my place and with a lot of hard work I managed to do it, so if I can do it you can do it too! I would definitely recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com and I couldn't thank them enough.

Studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com has been a fantastic experience. It allowed me to live and travel abroad whilst still studying towards my career when returning to the UK. It was a real challenge having not studied for ten years but the support and help from the tutors was amazing.

I never thought I would be returning to study at 40 - but as they say that is when life begins, and it has! Having not studied since leaving school when I was 16 I was aware completing this course could be a challenge, however I have surprised myself and very quickly developed a liking for writing essays, the word counts are always a challenge, but when reading your own work back to yourself it is quite amusing to see what you have written when you did not actually think of yourself as having much of a brain.
Studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com has been one of the best things I have done in the last few years, not only has it increased my confidence with regards to studying, but massively improved my self esteem and given me the belief that I can do this!!!!
I am well on the way to becoming a qualified nurse at an age where I thought my only option was to plod on in the job I have been doing for the last 20 years - working as a Healthcare Assistant. Roll on September and the beginning of my time as a full time student at University of Northampton!

After my son was born I knew that I needed a change of career to fit around family life but also to fulfil my desire of having a job I enjoy. DistanceLearningCentre.com provided the perfect course as it has been many years since I completed my A-levels and I needed to show evidence of further education within the last five years. At the time of starting the course my son was two and a half, studying at college was not possible and distance learning gave me the opportunity to study without comprising family life.
The course was tailor-made to the health profession which I am certain has been advantageous with my application to university. As a result I have been offered a conditional place on a part time speech and language therapy degree course at Birmingham City University, starting in September 2014. I am thrilled to have been offered a place as I am a mature student and was not expecting to get a place due to the large number of applicants for this popular course. I believe that studying a course with specific modules linked to the career you wish to pursue stands you in good stead with a university application. For the past few years I have struggled with the idea of what I wanted to achieve and study in life. Living in a very rural area with limited educational opportunities makes it even more difficult. After finally realizing what I wanted to study, and after discovering DistanceLearningCentre.com, I realized that this was the perfect opportunity to achieve entry into University.
As a person who likes to work independently, DistanceLearningCentre.com could not have been better in this aspect. The Social Science course allowed me to work at my own pace and to dive into the work whenever I wanted to. However, any time I needed help, my tutors, who were extremely friendly and approachable, responded very quickly to my concerns.
The materials are straightforward, the assignments are interesting and the feedback received improved my confidence and really motivated me to continue on to the next assignment.
