More about Course Fees
Awarding Body Registration Fees
When you study an Access Diplomas we have to register you with the Awarding Body within 12 weeks of the start of the course.
National QAA rules require that ALL Access students MUST be registered with an AVA (Access Vaildating Agency). Our agreement to do this forms part of our authoristion to run Access Diplomas and if we do not adhere to this rule our authority to run would be removed. It also authorises you, the student, to study an Access Diploma and use it to use it as part of any UCAS application.
It is not money which goes to distancelearningcentre.com but to the Awarding Body. Therefore, we cannot permit students to continue with the course if the Awarding Body Registration Fee is not paid. The Awarding Body do change the Registration Fee periodically and they may also change the requirements for when in the course it has to be paid. These are outside our control so if they do change the charge we have to charge you the same amount even if you have already started the course.
We do not release Certificates to any students if their account is in arrears.
What do my Course Fees cover?
Course Fees include the cost of tutoring, moderation and marking assessments.
We do not require payment of all the course fees up front but offer Course Fee instalment options spread across the period of your study.
Please remember Course Fee Instalments do not cover a specific period of study but are a payment towards your full Course Fee.
Certificate of Achievement. If you do not manage to complete your full course, we can issue a Certificate which provides details of what you have achieved up to that point.
Taking a study break
While you are studying, if there are changes in your circumstances you can put your course 'On Hold'.
You can take a study break for a period between 1 month and 6 months if changes in your circumstances are such that you feel unable to continue your studies for a short period. On your return, you can pick up where you left off.
We advise that this is something you discuss with your tutor first but please ensure you do this as soon as you know that you wish to take a break as otherwise you may use up your maximum study days unneccesarily.
Whilst you are 'On Hold' your maximum study days will not be used up, effectively extending your course.
If you are personally paying your course fees direct to DistanceLearningCentre.com, your Course Fee payments will also be suspended.
Even if you have left the course but decide to return at a later date, we will do all we can to ensure you can pick up your studies where you left off. However, course content and structures do change over time so the longer you leave it, the less we can guarantee a seamless return.

No Government Funding
Unlike traditional Colleges, distancelearningcentre.com receives no government funding. We are entirely reliant on the course fees from our students.
However, we are still able to keep our costs extremely competitive in comparison to fees the colleges charge. As a result, we are not able to offer our courses at discretionary rates or free of charge. A few students have managed to secure some grant funding themselves. You may find some useful links on the Grants & Finance page but we do not offer a service to help you secure funds.
