I am a mother of four. I left schooling over a decade in my early 50s living in the UK. I desired to pursue a career in nursing and midwifery without any UK education experience, so I decided to undertake an Access to Higher Education Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery to gain nursing access. My goal to Become a nurse/midwife was not an easy task at all. Still, I came across DistanceLearningCentre.com online college, the leading online college for access to UK universities as recommended by most universities.

It was my first time studying online, and I doubted coping without seeing my tutors and having a one-on-one conversation. However, I found DistanceLearningCentre.com online study so unique as it is written in simple language, well expatiated, and detailed to the latter when concentrated for easy understanding.

At first, the flexibility of study was my utmost joy, and it allowed me to combine studies, work and home front affairs, leaving no stone unturned and meeting everyone at their point of need afterwards settling to study as well meet up with material and assessment deadlines.

The study website has many helpful links that are easy to navigate to acquire knowledge and experience, as the resources and study materials contain detailed teachings with experiences.

My tutors are unique and well-trained, and I owe them my gratitude. I found friendship in them, and they were always ready to listen and put me right. My biology, sociology, and psychology tutors are one in a million; they are patient, tolerant, responsive to calls and emails, encouraging, and supportive. They corrected me, ensured I got it right and understood every topic in my coursework. Today I am a much better person.

I am happy my course ended so well and all my assessments duly submitted; I have achieved all I set out for as this is a stepping stone looking forward to becoming a certified nurse/Midwife ready to help save a life. Every experience, invaluable tool, and self-confidence gained through DistanceLearningCentre.com cannot be forgotten because it has given me the privilege to be who I want to be. (June 2023)

Thirty years later, I am finally pursuing a career path that excites me. After discovering DistanceLearningCentre.com and feeling inspired by the educational achievements of many others, I was motivated to seize this life-changing opportunity.

Initially, I was overwhelmed by the amount of work involved and had concerns about how I would complete modules while juggling work, family life and a farmyard of animals. I lacked confidence in my ability to learn and understand the work set; however, my tutors were nothing short of supportive and insightful. Anytime I had a wobble, I was met with patience, understanding and encouragement, three values among the many that encompass what DistanceLearningCentre.com is all about.

The daunting feeling of starting a module was soon replaced by the euphoric feeling of completing it and learning something. That rewarding feeling when pressing send on my assessments, receiving distinction-level marks and positive feedback from my tutors only amplified my motivation. At 49 years old, I have achieved the qualifications that have secured me a place at Birmingham University. DistanceLearningCentre.com has helped me to recognise my resilience and shown me what I am capable of. If I can do it, so can you. (June 2023)

It’s no exaggeration to say this course has changed my life; it has given me the self-belief, knowledge and confidence to pursue a career that a year ago was merely a pipe-dream - Fiona O'Sullivan

As a result of the Covid pandemic, like many others, I was made redundant in my role working for a travel company. This was a perfect opportunity to re-evaluate my career and I subsequently successfully applied for a role as an NHS Rehabilitation Instructor working alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. Within a year I had realised that I wanted to become a Physiotherapist but did not have the A-Level grades or the subjects required to pursue it. I questioned whether I was capable having been out of education for 27 years, and whether it was appropriate given my age (mid-40s) to consider forging a new career. Local colleges offered an Access course however working nearly full-time hours, and with three school-age children this was not an option logistically.

DistanceLearningCentre.com gave me the flexibility I needed to complete the course around work and family commitments. For me, this meant two hours of coursework before work on weekdays starting at 4am, followed by additional time at weekends (typically 15 – 20 hrs coursework per week). I quickly realised that 4am was a very productive time; the house was quiet, even the dog was asleep...no interruptions. The tutors I had were responsive, work was always marked within the 10-working day period and I knew I could ask them for help if needed, although this was rare as I found the materials, links and extra resources alongside independent research, to be fantastic. Having started the Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science) Option 2, in September 2022, I finished mid-April 2023 with 45 credits at Distinction (awaiting moderation) and have an interview at UWE in September for a Physiotherapy Degree Apprenticeship place to start January 2024.

It’s no exaggeration to say this course has changed my life; it has given me the self-belief, knowledge and confidence to pursue a career that a year ago was merely a pipe-dream. The self-discipline developed from independent study throughout the course can only serve to prepare students well for their further studies. I can’t imagine starting a degree without having completed the Access course first given all I have learned, and the skills I’ve developed. I would highly recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com to those looking to complete an Access course via distance learning. (June 2023)

Before I started the course, I was doing book keeping part time and running my own makeup business, but I wanted to pursue an ambition of mine to go to university to study to become a primary school teacher. I have completed an Access Diploma in Primary Education (with English) to enable me to enrol in university. I have received a conditional offer from Worcester University to do a BA (Hons) in Primary Initial Teacher Training with QTS, starting in September 2023.

Doing it with DistanceLearningCentre.com was one of my best decisions and I would recommend it to anyone in a similar position that I was in - Adam Hilman

After leaving school before getting my A levels, failing in getting that achievement and progressing to university not only locked me out of many potential career avenues but also weighed heavily on me not having that sense of accomplishment. After approximately 7 years out of school, I finally made the decision to try my best to get to university. Before any big decision, I always conduct plenty of research and evaluate all paths. After many days of exploring all options and discussing online with people who had been in a similar position to me, I decided the best choice for me to get to university was to do an Access to Higher Education Diploma. After further hours of research, I decided on DistanceLearningCentre.com due to its fantastic reputation and advice I was given by former students on social media.

Although I had been out of school for many years and my skills were of course very rusty, I found that the introductory ungraded assessments helped to ease me back into the right mindset for study as well as refining old forgotten skills and also teaching me new ones. I found the subject materials very useful at helping to complete my assessments due to being well written, easy to read and containing plenty of information, and thought my two tutors were fantastic when I needed assistance and helped me to get the results I wanted. Another crucial factor that played a role was the flexibility that DistanceLearningCentre.com gave me in completing my work, both remotely, and when I needed extensions. This helped massively when I suddenly had to move house during my course due to some personal issues, and studying somewhere different, I probably would have had to put my course on hold. I feel like this course has equipped me with all the essential skills that are required for higher learning. DistanceLearningCentre.com also provided me with perfect UCAS support, necessary to get my application ready to submit, including an extensive reference.

I have now completed all my assessments, receiving distinctions in all, and couldn't have done it without the help from my tutors and the materials. In addition to this, this course gave me the help and confidence to sit the LNAT and receive a score of 31 in the multiple-choice section. After many personal struggles throughout the years, making that big leap and finally starting the road to higher education and doing it with DistanceLearningCentre.com was one of my best decisions and I would recommend it to anyone in a similar position that I was in, and I would like to thank all involved with DistanceLearningCentre.com.
