Studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com made it possible to work at my own pace - Patrick Garlick

Before studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com I was furloughed from my job in video communications. With redundancy looming, I decided to apply to university and make a career change. I had always been interested in teaching Physical Education but did not have strong enough A level results to get onto a Physical Education degree course, so I decided to study an Access to Higher Education Diploma in Sports Science.

Studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com made it possible to work at my own pace and schedule so that I could juggle the demands of everyday life. The tutors were very supportive and helpful and I have just completed my diploma 7 months later. I am excited to have accepted an offer to study Physical Education with QTS at the University of Sunderland in September. (July 2021)

It is hard work but it is worth it, as it has prepared me for my nursing studies ahead - Helen Mclean

My name is Helen and in August 2020 I started the Access to Higher Education, Nursing and Midwifery course with DistanceLearningCentre.com following a personal recommendation from a work colleague.

I had always wanted to apply for nursing at university but having left school at sixteen to start work I never had the correct qualifications to be able to apply. As a mature (very mature!) student the Access to HE course enabled me to gain the required qualifications in one course with one learning provider whilst still working full-time as a healthcare assistant.

The course has been hard work but very interesting, with the tutors supporting me every step of the way. My tutors were great, very professional but always available to give advice, support and feedback as I worked through the course. I feel not only the knowledge gained in the course but the confidence in writing essays, referencing and being disciplined to carry out study to timeframes has given me an advantage for university.

I completed the course in May 2021 gaining the 60 credits that have allowed me to successfully apply for a nursing degree which I start in September. During my interview for university, it was noted that studying for the access course as well as working full-time showed real dedication and discipline.

This course through DistanceLearningCentre.com is excellent, it is hard work but it is worth it, as it has prepared me for my nursing studies ahead in September. (July 2021)

I have dyslexia, DistanceLearningCentre.com finally made me feel academically worthy - Samantha Kloos

Image of Samantha Kloos

I have dyslexia which detrimentally affects my short-term working memory and processing speed, impacting my reading, spelling and writing. Unfortunately, schools did not provide me with educational support or exam arrangements to assist my disability. I was set up to fail. Consequently, I left college with one A-Level and a feeling of academic unworthiness.

I continued to work in customer service. However, the pandemic made me reflect on my employability and how easily replaceable I was. I had always wanted to pursue a career in Law; but my qualifications said otherwise. So, I looked into courses that I could study alongside my job.

DistanceLearningCentre.com suited all my needs. It was flexible, affordable, and the modules offered would provide me with the fundamental basics to study a Law degree.

DistanceLearningCentre.com did more than help me get into my dream Russell Group university studying Law. It finally made me feel academically worthy. (July 2021) Award of Achievement Nominee

By completing the course, I feel prepared for university life and higher education academic studies - Andrea Higgins

Prior to studying with DistanceLearningCentre.com I had been looking into leaving the industry I was in and going into healthcare, specifically to become an Occupational therapist. I'd been wanting to do this for quite a few years but needed to find an avenue that would provide flexibility to work around my erratic schedule.

That's when I found DistanceLearningCentre.com and enquired about the courses available, to which I was given advice into which one would be appropriate for entry to university for Occupational therapy.

I was able to start quickly and had amazing support from start to finish from all my tutors which provided me with everything I needed from preparing for university (UCAS application), academic writing, self-development and providing prompt feedback on assessments. The tutors were also available if I had any questions and queries whether it would be by phone, text or email which was very helpful.

By completing the course, I feel prepared for university life and higher education academic studies. With this course I've been able to secure offers from all of my 5 choices and as such, looking forward to starting university September 2021. (July 2021)

It is hard work, but so worth it, and your tutors are with you every step of the way - Victoria Porter

I cannot recommend DistanceLearningCentre.com more highly and am actually sad my learning with them has come to an end. Whilst bringing up my children and with a husband who travels a lot, I did a variety of work to fit in around the family. But I always felt when the time was right, I would want to re-train for a new and fulfilling career.

My aim was Allied Healthcare and after using 'profiling software' and taking career advice, everything pointed to one particular role … but it required a degree. I am an ex-dancer, so at school-leaving age I went straight into training, auditions and work. At first, I thought that without A-levels this new career would be out of reach. Then I realised there was such a thing as an Access to Higher Education Diploma and discovered DistanceLearningCentre.com. After reading reviews like this from other learners, I knew it was the right choice for me.

From day one I found my tutors to be incredibly friendly, supportive and accessible. They encourage independent learning, but are always there to give guidance and answer questions of any kind. The learning materials are brilliant; extremely thorough and logically laid out in topics and sub-topics, so you move smoothly through - one 'chunk' at a time. Along the way you are also provided with things like recommended further reading, links to videos and websites, which all help to 'cement' your knowledge. It is hard work, but so worth it - and your tutors are with you every step of the way.

Thanks to DistanceLearningCentre.com I learnt to study again and gained the qualification needed for higher education. In September, I start a 4-year MSci degree in Speech and Language Therapy at the University of Reading. I turn 50 that same week - never too late - and will join my two daughters, who are full-time university students too! (July 2021)
