"The level of study and essay writing have proved very valuable"
Siobhan Tyson - June 2011
I completed the Access to Higher Education Diploma (Midwifery) with DistanceLearningCentre.com in order to get the qualifications needed to go to university to study a Midwifery degree. I chose DistanceLearningCentre.com over a traditional college access course because I could work at my own pace and still work full time before I left for university.
I found that the course materials were really helpful and the assessments were set to challenge your knowledge on the subject. It was challenging and at times hard, but very rewarding and has given me the confidence to study at a higher level. My tutor was very helpful and on hand whenever I needed and I was able to set my own deadlines to complete the course. I felt the subjects were relevant and has laid the foundations for me to become a university student, particularly by completing essays and coursework which I haven't done since leaving school 10 years ago.
It took me just over a year to complete the course and I received offers from my top two choices of university and will be going onto study a Midwifery degree in September 2011. I could not have done this without DistanceLearningCentre.com!
Katrina Ansell - June 2011
I have just completed my Access to Midwifery Diploma with DistanceLearningCentre.com and have been offered a place at my first choice university to study Midwifery in September. I never thought I would be able to fulfil my dream of becoming a midwife after learning that I could only qualify by going to university. I could not afford to give up my full time job to go to college to get the access qualifications. Then I found DistanceLearningCentre.com in an online search.
It was hard working full time and completing the course but I have managed to complete it whilst still carrying on with my job which has allowed my to save enough money to go to university also. The tutors were great and very flexible. They are always just a call or an email away and so supportive. Thanks to the flexibility of the course and tutors and my hard work, I can now fulfil my dream of becoming a midwife!

My plans to become a midwife were stopped short 10 years ago when a death in the family meant that I became involved in, and eventually had to manage the family business full time. I decided to make steps towards my dream two years ago when I discovered that I could study from home at my own pace with DistanceLearningCentre.com in order to bring my qualifications back up to date.
Although I found the course very tough at times and a lot of self motivation was needed, I do believe that this will stand me in good stead when I start my degree. As an adult learner, you have to learn to take the responsibility to keep on top of your studies and learn that no one else is going to do the work for you. Independent/distance learning is difficult and can be very lonely, but with the support of your tutors and your peers it is definately worth every second in the end.
My tutor was very supportive and knew when I needed a push in the right direction and when I needed to be left to it. I have also made some good friends through DistanceLearningCentre.com, a couple of us that started at the same time have helped each other through the difficult times, have offered support to each other and will remain friends as we progress through our careers and our lives.
Thanks to DistanceLearningCentre.com offering me a chance to study from home at my own pace. I achieved the qualifications needed to apply to university and I will be starting my Midwifery degree at Worcester University in February 2012.
Marline Clovis Gilbert - March 2011
I enrolled on the Access to Higher Education Diploma course with DistanceLearningCentre.com in order to gain the required knowledge to continue on in my studies towards a career in Nursing. The course was excellent and my tutor provided the support I needed along the way.
Now that I have completed the course I am looking forward to getting into University and putting what I have learned into good use. I have already recommended my sister in law to 'get on board DistanceLearningCentre.com train'.

I've just finished an Access to H.E Social Work Diploma, I have already been accepted to study Social Work at the University of Gloucestershire and this course was my main route in because I have been out of education for around 9 years.
The course has definitely prepared me for University, the level of study and essay writing have proved very valuable. I thought it would be hard because I came straight out of the Army and wanted to restart education, but my tutor was brilliant and very supportive, thanks to my tutor and thanks DistanceLearningCentre.com.
