Help with Maths please

Postby sarah13265 » Thu Sep 18, 2008 12:41 pm

Hi,

I am currently doing the Maths assessment. I'm just about finished it, only 8 questions left to do, but I can't get my head around the simultaneous equations, I have re-read the modules and looked on gcse bitesize and various websites - but I am still having trouble.

Any tips anyone - please

Oh - I hated those as well. It took me ages to understand them and the only way around it was to actually have someone sit with me and go through some until I got it - luckily my partner and dad are both good at maths.

Is you hubby any good - could he talk you through it and then you could have a go at the assessment ones?

Hi Leese,

Yes, he is pretty good at maths, he is just really busy with his own work at the moment. I was hoping to get the questions finished off today, then I just have the shoe size experiment to do - not looking forward to it.

How long did it take you to do the experiment part of the assessment?

Hi Sarah

The experiment part of the assessment did not take me long at all because it is a really basic one. If you are having difficulty getting shoe sizes for different age groups, I suggest posting on studentmidwife.net as I am sure all the lovely ladies on there will give you their child's shoe size and age. Compared to the maths questions themselves, I thought the experiment was a doddle! I hated maths!

I did enjoy communications though - my favourite! Oh, just thought, you will have communications next - not stats.

Hi Leese,

Yes, I am doing communications next, then probably statistics.

I have found the maths ok - it's just the equations I am struggling with.

How many participants did you use for the experiment?

I can't remember now - I think I managed to get the shoes sizes of around 30 children aged from about 2 to 9 I think.
