How short is short exactly, mine has come up at a shade over 600 words. Is that ok or does it need to be longer.
Can anyone advise please!
Short Essays!
Re: Short Essays!
I think short essays are normally 800-1000 words. I would try and add an extra paragraph or two to develop some of the ideas more to show a bit more breadth and depth.
Hope this helps

Re: Short Essays!
Thanks for that I was pretty sure it needed a little extra something. I hate the concept of word counting I always get so hung up on it!
Thanks again!

Re: Short Essays!
Oh I know what you mean... I used to have the problem of never seeming to write enough, but now I have problems keeping my word count down lol!!
I find it best to keep writing and not worry too much about the word count until right at the end. Do your word count, so you've got an idea on where you are at and then leave it a day or so. When you reread it you'll suddenly start seeing where you can add bits in (or cut it out if need be).
I used to hate writing essays when I first started, now I really get into them... quite sad really isn't it!!

Re: Short Essays!
I am a lot better at them but sometimes I feel like i'm repeating myself over and over or that I'm wandering to far of the subject! Will have to get used to it as it will be a fact of life for the next three years!!
Also I have really managed to pick up speed with them. Writing them straight onto the laptop instead of faffing about with paper has made so much difference. I am motoring through the modules now (esp as i have a deadline)
instead of it taking me weeks to finish one assessment!
I will be soooo glad to get this finished!

I know what you mean! It used to take me a month to do an assessment, but now have 6 weeks to do 6 units! Just done 5 units in 6 weeks, so I think it's doable (well I hope!!!) Are you going for June moderation too?

Re: Short Essays!
If it's any inspiration i've done biology 1 in 10 days which is faster than a unit a day! I am going for june aswell I have a place at middlsex uni to do midwifery so to say i am determined is an understatement! Between this , work and 2 kids life is hectic but it will be sooo worth it!
I have four units to complete but like you say it's doable! It's good to chat with someone who is in the same boat!

Ooh, sorry I've only just seen your post. Biology 1 in 10 days.... amazing!! Tough times... always feel like I am working or studying, but it'll be so nice to have the summer off and uni to look forward to at the end of it! Looking forward to the long uni holidays with my daughter. So worth it... Good luck too x

Don't get me wrong that is a lot of work and I have been putting in between 4 and 10 hours a day every day! It has really fried my brain but as it's by far the biggest module I'm glad its over! But also a huge factor is I just get biology....unlike some of the other stuff!

Hello

I am working on bio too, have just bound coordination and control!
6 more creds from bio, (and bio health & disease) to go and just wondered how on earth did you complete in 10 days??? BIG WELL DONE BY THE WAY

No it's not difficult, I am actually enjoying learning how the body works and the modules and am finding it much less challenging than previous modules, BUT
It's the whole writing things in your own words that gets me and still keeping to scientific facts????
Chris (I am very fortunate to be able to spend ridiculous amounts of time on it too!)
