Role Theory

Postby canireally » Wed Jan 30, 2013 1:54 pm

I have read all the posts relating to role theory and I'm sorry to say I still have no idea what it is!

Karen, you seem to imply that it is the same as social learning theory, and to cite Bandura. I have looked at this but I can't work out how to relate it to the understanding of the patient/client and health carer relationship. I've done a Google search but still haven't found anything useful I could cite to explain how role theory affects the relationship. Can anyone help with this please x

OK, so I've done a bit more reading, and am I right in thinking that because children learn by observing others (Bandura) this is how they learn what role they fulfil in their family - Mary's role is as the carer rather than the child?

Still not clear on this at all - any help would be gratefully received!

Thanks x
