Re: New criteria, TAQ 4 body defence essay

I haven't done it this way. I'm following the criteria sheet and explaining non specific defences then specific defences, ensuring the guidelines mentioned in the criteria are covered. I haven't put actual lifecycles of each type of pathogen as feel this has already been covered in othe TAQs and don...

Re: Good website for Unit 12

thanks - hard to find stuff in the text books that I have.

Here is another website that I saw Robin recommend in another thread - this one looks easier to read/understand.

Good biology websites

Hi Can anyone give me some good biology websites. I have looked at the ones here in resources, but although they might give me some information, they don't give me much. I often look at diagrams on google images, and when I then go to open that website, the images are either from Wikipedia, or from ...

Re: Taq5 structure of gut wall

Am just doing this one (the new version) asking for 200 words! Am trying to cover stomach, small intestine and large intestine. I don't think I will get all this in in only 200 words! Absolute minimum of 500 words I think. Can someone confirm that I am talking about organ structure, tissue structure...

Many thanks Robin.

As there are so many websites out there, are you able to recommend any valid and reliable sites for this one?

Thanks.

TAQ 2 - the diet causing ill health

In the criteria for this TAQ, it says give a detailed account of several major problems caused by poor diet. Explain the physiological effects. I understand this. However, then it says: You must also provide a 'specific breakdown of major dietary requirements for at least 3 examples with links to po...

Re: TAQ 5 - hormones in the endocrine system

Robin - would you be able to clarify this please.

For TAQ 5 (2.1) we just do the table with details as required?

Then for TAQ 6 (2.2),

this is where we 'give detailed explanation for three of the hormones (either Insulin, T3, T4 or ADH) and their functions within the body . . . .'

Many thanks.

TAQ 5 - hormones in the endocrine system

From the new style assessments - as well as completing the table, for distinction level it asks for detailed explanation of 3 of the hormones. My question is can I choose 3 hormones from the same gland, or do they have to be from 3 different glands? Was hoping to do ones linked to midwifery, e.g. ox...

word counts for new assessments - Unit 3 taq 2

Hi Robin So far, I am finding the new layout of the assessment details much clearer and more straightforward  . Can you please give me a bit of advice on the recommended word counts. It's great to have a guide to how much words you want us to put. On TAQ 2 - explain the structure and function ...

Re: Taq 9 5 and 8

I agree- I am definitely repeating myself! I understand what they want from us, but they just reword it further down the line, and it just makes it all the more confusing. The criteria isn't clear and that just makes it more stressful for us students :(
