TAQ 6 c)

Hi - for part c of TAQ 6, it states 'Explain the importance of the changes to the foetal circulation, lungs and liver which need to occur at birth. Does that mean we need to describe in full about how they work before birth or just how they have changed after the birth? The DLC question c) is worded...

Re: Unit 12 TAQ 5 natural, acquired, active and passive

I'm exactly the same jess86 - it's driving me mad! How on earth can you put similarities when the two things are completely different?!! If it said compare the different immunity types then I'd be fine but it's just fitting them all into the stupid table that's bonkers. No doubt someone will say we ...

TAQ 3b - physical processes

Hi, Just need a bit of clarifcation on what's being asked exactly? 'Describe the physical processes involoved in digestion and explain the importance' First of all, in the guidance notes, I read this as the literal, physical way in which food is digested (how it gets moves to each part of the tract ...

Re: Robin's biology questions and answers

Hi - a few of us are having conflicting advice about the word counts for new matierials so I thought I'd ask for some general clarifcation as the answers seem to differ.... The notes in the new matierials say 'suggested word count' which suggests we follow it. However, someone was told it was a guid...

Re: word counts for new assessments - Unit 3 taq 2

For that question, my word count is 225 and I'm thinking it's as short as it possibly can be - feels like I'm sweeping over much detail and I've taken out every single word that doesn't need to be there. I still think it's easier to write over and then reduce than it is not to have enough to write a...

Re: where to put refs

Debbielou - even after each TAQ 1-6. So a ref list after TAQ1 - the first table, then ref list?

where to put refs

Hi, My tutor said that for Bio1 (1 & 2), I add a ref list after each TAQ and not as one huge list at back. However, someone just told me they referenced after TAQ1-6 and then after 7-9. I was thinking of perhaps doing it after 1-6 and then after each TAQ after that. What's acceptable? Many thanks

Re: Cells in the urethra

Aha - maybe it's so they stretch (epithelial) but do squamous cells stretch? Or perhaps it's to secrete mucous, as in the ureters.

Cells in the urethra

Hi I'm just finshing my body system work TAQ 9, qu 10 and I cannot find anywhere (books or online) why squamous cells are found lining the urethra outside the bladder and why transitional epithelial cells line it near the urethral opening. All internet search tell me they're there but not why. Any i...

Re: Robin's biology questions and answers

Thank Robin - so you think a diagram/chart for function followed by prose for the rest under subheading would be ok?

Re: Robin's biology questions and answers

Aha!! Forget my last question - I've just peeked at the new version and it's 150 words.

Also - I think I'll graphically show each organ in the renal system and describe it's cells/tissues and the organ's function in the system

How does that sound? :D

Re: Robin's biology questions and answers

Hi Robin, Just a quick question ref. TAQ 9, qu 10 (old materials). I've chosen my body system (Renal System) and plan to describe each stage of the process (cells, tissue, organ....ect) using the method described in the question. Again though, I'm stumped into how much detail would be good for worki...
