Exemptions or Accreditation for prior learning (APL) - any student who has claimed exemption from part of the course due to achieving previous qualifications (such as allowed GSCEs), must have submitted evidence of these prior to being put forward for Moderation such that the tutor can sign to verify they have seen it. Note that you may also be required to produce these Certificates when you enrol on your Higher Education Course. You can see how exemptions are shown on an Access Certificate here - Page 1, Page 2.


November Moderation 2012

For students aiming to enter Higher Education after the September 2012 intake.

  1. 14th September 2012 - all students wishing to be put forward for November moderation must have completed and submitted Assessments to the value of at least 30 credits at Level 3 as well as completing all GCSE Equivalences if these are being studied as part of your Access Diploma. These must have already been marked with recommended grades of Pass or above.

  2. 14th September 2012 - invoices/payment requests will be raised so will show up as money due on your account from that date. These will show the correct amount to pay according to your course start date (£100.00 if you started your course on or after 1st September 2011, or £151.06 if you started before that date).

  3. 28th September 2012 - all students must upload their Learner Details Form (LDF) to their myDLC Account.

  4. 28th September 2012 - deadline for payment of the Certification Fee and Moderation Fee. You should login and choose the 'Make Online Payment' link in your myDLC menu. Alternatively, you can email giving personal authorisation to debit the payment on a given date between the 14th and the 28th September.

  5. Late submission of the LDF or failure to pay the Certification and Moderation Fees by this deadline will result in an additional £20.00 late fee. Even if the late fee is incurred, payment must be received by the 8th May or it will be too late to Register you.

  6. 26th October 2012 - deadline for final submission of assessments. You are advised to submit your work well in advance of this date as there will be insufficient time remaining for re-marking should your work not be up to standard.

  7. All completing students must upload a Course Evaluation Form to their myDLC Account before Finishing. If you would like to appear in the 'Hall of Fame', please also send a photo and a short piece to your tutor.

  8. Will I have to pay any more if I finish before the deadline? - once you have finished your course, you should not have to pay any more, unless some of your course fees are still outstanding. The course must still be paid for in full so we will be monitoring our list of students going for Moderation who have been set to 'Finished' and will contact any individually if there are any fees outstanding. If you target completion date on our records has been kept in line with when you actually complete between you and your tutor, you should find that you have paid your fees in full at that point. If not, there may be more to pay.

  9. Certificates will be sent to DLC by the Awarding Body (OCNNWR) some time in January. Certificates will be posted to each student via Recorded Delivery within 2-3 days of receipt.

June Moderation 2012

For students aiming to enter Higher Education in or after September 2012.

  1. 16th April 2012 - all students wishing to be put forward for June moderation must have completed and submitted Assessments to the value of at least 30 credits at Level 3. These must have already been marked with recommended grades of Pass or above.

  2. 16th April 2012 - invoices/payment requests will be raised so will show up as money due on your account from that date. These will show the correct amount to pay according to your course start date (£100.00 if you started your course on or after 1st September 2011, or £151.06 if you started before that date).

  3. 30th April 2012 - all students must upload their Learner Details Form (LDF) to their myDLC Account.

  4. 30th April 2012 - deadline for payment of the Certification Fee and Moderation Fee. You should login and choose the 'Make Online Payment' link in your myDLC menu. Alternatively, you can email giving personal authorisation to debit the payment on a given date between the 16th and the 30th April.

  5. Late submission of the LDF or failure to pay the Certification and Moderation Fees by this deadline will result in an additional £20.00 late fee. Even if the late fee is incurred, payment must be received by the 8th May or it will be too late to Register you.

  6. 25th May 2012 - deadline for final submission of assessments. You are advised to submit your work well in advance of this date as there will be insufficient time remaining for re-marking should your work not be up to standard.

  2. 26th September 2011 - all students must upload their Learner Details Form (LDF) to their myDLC Account.

  3. 26th September 2011 - deadline for payment of the Certification Fee and Moderation Fee.

  4. Late submission of the LDF or failure to pay the Certification and Moderation Fees by this deadline will result in an additional late fee. Even if the late fee is incurred, payment must be received by the 3rd October or it will be too late to Register you.

  5. 21st October - deadline for final submission of assessments. You are advised to submit your work well in advance of this date as there will be insufficient time remaining for re-marking should your work not be up to standard.

  6. All completing students must upload a Course Evaluation Form to their myDLC Account before Finishing. If you would like to appear in the 'Hall of Fame', please also send a photo and a short piece to your tutor.

June Moderation 2011

For students aiming to enter Higher Education in or after September 2011.

  1. 1st May - all students wishing to be put forward for June moderation must have completed and submitted Assessments to the value of at least 48 credits, of which a minimum of 42 must have already been marked with recommended grades of Pass or above.

  2. 6th May - all students must upload their Learner Details Form (LDF) to their myDLC Account.

  3. 6th May - deadline for payment of the Certification Fee and Moderation Fee. To be paid online using the 'Make Online Payment' link on the myDLC menu to the right of your screen when you are logged in. Please email if there is a problem with paying this online.

  4. Late submission of the LDF or failure to pay the fee by this deadline will result in an additional late fee. Even if the late fee is incurred, payment must be received by the 13th May or it will be too late to Register you.

  5. 6th June - deadline for final submission of assessments. You are advised to submit your work well in advance of this date as there will be insufficient time remaining for re-marking should your work not be up to standard.
