Access to HE Detailed Information

On completion of your study you will receive an Access Diploma and you will have studied the modules which fit with your career choice.

Nationally Accredited

Accredited Access Diploma Courses mean that students can apply to Universities, Teacher Training Colleges and Nurse Training Schools. They supply the required number of Credits normally demanded by Higher Education providers (60 Credits), although you can gain more or less if required.

The Distance Learning Centre is an approved Centre for delivery of OCN (Open College Network) qualifications. Click here to view our Certificate. The Course's Authorised Validating Agency (AVA) is the Open College Network North West Region (OCNNWR). This means that they are QAA approved (this also used to be known as Kitemarked). The Courses are accepted by almost all HEI's throughout the UK. When you apply for a course to move on into Higher Education we will also help you with your UCAS Application.

High Quality

Over 95% our students who have completed an Access Course with the DLC have gained an interview! This is due to our national reputation and our ability to support you and help you to achieve. We are well known to many Higher Education Institutions (HEI's), who appreciate that students who complete our courses are very well prepared for Higher Education.

Unit Accreditation

If you do not wish to take a full Access Diploma (60 Credits) you may pick any of the modules. It may also be that these can be added to any existing Access Credits you achieved before joining DLC. Upon completion of the assessments you will be awarded a certificate for the credits you achieve. Find out more >>>

Additional Credits

Only 60 Credits will be shown on the Certificate for your Access Diploma. If, for any reason, your selected Higher Education Institution requires more than the national 60 Credits standard, these will not form part of your diploma but will be shown on an additional Certificate.

Flexible

Full Access Courses are designed to take, on average, one academic year to complete although some students complete in a shorter time and others take longer. You will be entitled to tutor support for as long as your studies take.

If you have to put your studies 'On Hold' for some reason, you can pick up the course again at a later date and continue to add to Modules you have already achieved. The ability to do this does depend on whether there are any significant changes to the course whilst your studies as 'On Hold'.

With the Distance Learning Centre you can work at home at your own pace, whilst still having the benefits of your own personal tutor who has time to deal with your own individual problems and concerns. The course is designed to meet all your needs to study at a level that is comparable to A-level.

While you are studying, if there are significant changes in your circumstances and you cannot complete the course you can put your course 'on hold'. This would involve suspending your course fee installments so does not apply to short vacations, school holidays or any periods of less than 2 months.
