NATIONALLY ACCREDITED - Accredited Access Courses mean that students can apply to Universities, Teacher Training Colleges and Nurse Training Schools. They supply the required number of Credits normally demanded by Higher Education providers (60 Credits), although you can gain more or less if required.
The Course's Authorised Validating Agency (AVA) is the Open College Network North West Region (OCNNWR). This means that they are QAA approved (this also used to be known as Kitemarked). The Courses are accepted throughout the UK. When you apply for a course to move on into Higher Education we will also help you with your UCAS or NMAS Application.
From September 2008, all QAA recogised Access Certificates will be known as Access Diplomas. However, you can still start your studies now as the credits you have achieved prior to September will be mapped across to the Diploma.
FLEXIBLE - If you do not wish to take a full Access Course you may choose any of the Modules. Upon completion of the Assessments you will be awarded a Certificate for the Credits you achieve. You can also choose to pick up the course again at a later date, and continue to add to Modules you have already achieved.
Full Access Courses are designed to take, on average, one year to complete although some students complete in a shorter time and others take longer . You will be entitled to tutor support for as long as your studies take.
With the Distance Learning Centre you can work at home at your own pace, whilst still having the benefits of your own personal tutor who has time to deal with your own individual problems and concerns. The course is designed to meet all your needs to study at a level that is comparable to A-level.
If there are changes in your circumstances and you cannot complete the course and you feel that you need to put your course on hold, please contact the centre to explain.
HIGH QUALITY - All our students who have completed an Access Course have gained an interview! This is due to our national reputation and our ability to support you and help you to achieve. We are well known to many Higher Education Institutions (HEI's), who appreciate that students who complete our courses are very well prepared for Higher Education.
